Mother Superior Lyrics

Here, sleep at the bottom of Hell
Your time has come to pick the road you'll walk in this tale
Turned and as a coward you've learned
Through sickness and health, there's only one
Now go and bite your tongue

You'll just say the worst of me, with a hope they'll understand
No, they know you're just a boy, so grow up and be a man

Little baby, kicking, you scream and whine
Victims pay the price eventually
The cost, let's see...your life

You've got nothing to prove
Stay afraid. Young brother
You've got nothing to prove

Your answer is in there, just stare down the barrel
Your sincerest apologies, won't write you out of this one
Tonight...you'll find the right
In the pull of the trigger now bite
Oh young fools, don't cry...anymore

A fear sleeps inside your stomach...it swells
A torn boy alone in need of fix and the pinch that cures the itch
For too long, this little baby has cried on
For tomorrow we'll sing the words and song
Of a time we're glad is long gone

Not anymore...don't cry boy
When you're sick to the stomach just pull out the knife

Mother Superior
Come catch the rabbit, he runs, my how've you been?
You're frightened of leaving this truly gone fishing amalgam
Go fetch your gun

This version is way better than the acoustic, it's much more powerful.

The Neverender version is amazing.

Very true, the orchestra put behind it adds alot, not to mention the rest of the band.

i just got chills listening to this

the guitars aren't mixed as loud as i kind of imagined, but it's still intense, and i love the arrangement on the album. the "mother superior, come catch the rabbit that runs" part put at the end instead of before each chorus.

The lyrics are so ironic. Throughout Volume 1 and 2 he refers to the character as this immature crybaby. It's so mind numbing... His entire family was killed, and he was thrown into a war that he never wanted any part in. He's just as soon told of his fate as The Crowing, the Endbringer.

Props to Claudio the character for completing his destiny. Lol.

so does anyone have any speculations as to what this song is about? me personally, i think its the character thinking about comitting suicide because of the chorus saying "just stare down the barrel" and such... plus claudio said something about the character contemplating suicide on one of his interviews... but that he realizes that to take such an easy way out would be weak

the character ends up being atragic hero, by activating the monstar and shutting down start IV he kills himself as well as the keywork. I think its im coming to terms with is destiny, which involves commiting a suicide of sorts

@bathorychild666 It’s a metaphoric suicide. If you self reflect to instances in your own life. Whining, crying, self doubt, etc etc, is useless, you’ll just “stay afraid.” By taking a leap of faith, or committing suicide to your weaker self, you will find your true self. It’s a “curse” that sees your lies, you’re no longer intrigued by childish things, you grow into an adult. Or something along those lines ;)

i think its about Claudio reflecting on all of his bitching and whining he did throughout the story, and he finally realizes that the only way out is to become the crowing to set everything right.

"Little baby, kicking, you scream and whine. Victims pay the price eventually. The cost, let's see... your life."

Damn I love that part!

I think this song is a discussion between Claudio and "Mother Superior (MS)." It could be Mariah, the ghost of Amebellina or even God (I've always been pretty sure that God in this story is a real person rather than a divine being).

"You'll just say the worst of me, with a hope they'll understand. No, they know you're just a boy, so grow up and be a man.

Little baby, kicking, you scream and whine. Victims pay the price eventually. The cost, let's see... your life."

I think this whole part is MS explaining to Claudio, "look, you are just a boy. It's not fair for you to have all this responsibility placed on you, but guess what? It is. And you've know about this for a while now so it's about time you stop whining and just deal with it." She explains that she knows that completing his mission will probably cost him his life but she tells Claudio to just deal with it, no matter how unfair it may seem.

"You've got nothing to prove. Stay afraid, young brother. You've got nothing to prove."

MS saying to Claudio there's no shame in being afraid - you don't have to prove yourself a man by pretending now to be frightened by the situation you find yourself in.

"Mother Superior, come catch the rabbit, he runs."

Claudio asking MS, "I'm afraid and I want to run away and forsake my responsibilities...convince me not to run"

"My, how've you been? You're frightened of leaving this truly gone fishing amalgam. Go fetch your gun."

MS replying to Claudio, "You're frightened but that's OK. Now go fuck people up."

So yeah that's my interpretation of at least some of the lines. I'm extremely interested in hearing other people's interpretations too.
