Panic On The Streets Of Health Care City Lyrics

The I.V. drips, the days drag on
The anesthetics' now wearing off
Adjust the light switch in the hall

This is the end
These are the last days
These are the last DAYS!

TAKE our hands in a roll of red tape,
Genetic information strands are tighter than ?trip? wires
And we awake in the light of other lives,
This can't be happening, ?sirens are for me, yeah?

Someone hurry to the hospital! (To cut the cost of collected health)
Dying in the shadow of the hospital! (We got the city in our blood)
AND IT'S MAKING US SICK

But you stay alive
Until their blood fills up your wallet
Blazing up the sky

These are the last days
These are the last DAYS!
WHERE WE ALL WAKE
WHERE WE ALL WAKE

The I.V. drips, the days drag on
The anesthetics' now wearing off
Adjust the light switch in the hall
Someone has left it on
And maybe the x-ray screen keeps it from getting dark
The bulb burns out when it gets too hot
Are we just a blink in the eyes of a pulse machine?
It's lightning divorcing the storm
Try to shut it off
Codeine catches
The windows latched and
The clock keeps circling the room 'tick, tock'

We lost control (____________)
In what have we followed magnetic fields to the fire (___________)
Out of control
Fight currents in the water we can't let go to shore
We lost control

There is the obvious allusion to the song Panic by The Smiths where you'll find the recurring line "panic on the streets of" followed by the names of cities like London and Birmingham, in Thursdays case, Healthcare City

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panic_(song)

Though the title is more likely inspired by the film Panic In The Streets which "tells the story of Clinton Reed, an officer of the U.S. Public Health Service (played by Richard Widmark ) and a police captain ( Paul Douglas ) who have only a day or two in which to prevent an epidemic of pneumonic plague after Reed determines a waterfront homicide victim is an index case"

Yes, you're right. These lyrics are from "The Other Side Of The Crash", but they are switched around. This is because this is basically the very first demo of "The Other Side Of The Crash". This song is what turned into "The other Side of The Crash".

That's why the lyrics are very similar, but a little different in certain parts, and a lot different in some.

Did anyone notice that in the WATT jacket, there's a section where it says "in a city built on health care and it's making us sick"? It's on the page opposite of the lyrics for Signals Over the Air.

i love this song =] i think i prefer it to the other side of the crash just a couple of lyric correction suggestions: 'the anaesthetics 'not' wearing off' - instead of 'now' wearing off, not 100% sure though. an awesome line conveying a feeling of numbness.

and my interepretation of the indecipherable screaming: We lost control (we're out, we're out) In what have we followed magnetic fields to the fire (we're out, we're out) but once again, im not sure, just what i hear =]
