Rise Above This Lyrics
Call the clouds, and listen closely, I'm lost without you
When I feel so helpless
I'm fallen down, but ill rise above this (rise above this)
For all we know this void will grow
And everything's in vain, distressing you don't leave me open
Feels so right that I'll end this all before it gets me
I'm fallen down (fallen down) but I'll rise above this (rise above this)
I'm fallen down (fallen down) but ill rise above this rise, rise above this now
I'll mend myself before it gets me
I'll mend myself before it gets me
I'll mend myself before it gets me
When I feel so helpless.
I'm fallen down (fallen down) but I'll rise above this (rise above this)
Forty eight ways to say that I'm feeling helpless, fallen down, and I'll?
Rise above this now
To me this song is talking about losing his brother to suicide and knowing that Shawn has wanted to take his own life so he wants to mend himself before he does it. Meaning he wants help because now he understands the devastation of a loved one committing suicide and would not want to put anyone else through that.
Actually this song was written to cheer up his brother.. but after the song was written his brother killed hisself whiel they where on tour at the hotel they where satying in and during the video shoot they had to stop multiple times for shaun cause it was to hard for him.. this is probly my favotite song ever and i love seether =]

This song is so powerful. You can definetly tell from just watching the video how bad it hurt Shaun to sing this. They had to stop several times while filming the video because of Shaun's sobbing. He really loved him. If you want to hear a band that also gets so intensley affected by teen or just any age suicide look up Hollywood Undead and their song pain.
Great lyrics... describes exactly how I'm feeling now. I'm finding that alot of the songs on this new album do that.
Oh and one correction with the lyrics, it's not "rise about this now" it is supposed to be "rise about this DOUBT" =)
This is a song that Shawn wrote about his brother before he died. RIP Junior.
Rest in peace, Eugene...
Beautiful song. It always puts me in a happy mood, and reminds me of overcoming obstacles.
The album is amazing.
I agree. It helps cope with my friends death. : )
Anyone know the meaning behind "..forty eight ways to say...", maybe it's something insanely obvious and I'm just thinking too hard, but it's been bugging me
@J12 I lost my husband to suicide it's the what ifs that makes you feel helpless because you can't change the situation but your mind goes over a million things you could have done differently. 48 ways to say I'm feeling helpless ( 48 situations he can't change)

J12, I have been wondering the exact same thing since I came across the lyrics. The only thing I can think of, in light of the video, is killing yourself by taking a forty-eight story plunge. I would love to know what others think.

Beautiful song. It makes me happy and sad at the same time. :)
J12, I was also wondering about that line. r_bloodworth's explanation is reasonable, but after reading a story online, it says he only jumped from eight stories.
I can't think of anything else that this line could symbolize...
