Walk Away From The Sun

I just have a strong feeling that this song is about drugs.

"Walk away from the sun, come slowly undone I can see in your eyes, I've already won..." -I'm sure that in drug addiction, you walk away from happiness [the sun], letting the drug win you over.

"I could bleed for a smile, I could cry for some fun..." -Knowing that eventually drug addicts will do practically anything to get a 'hit', therefore 'bleeding' as in making yourself, and others, hurt, and 'for a smile' means just to make yourself happy by getting a hit.

"So turn away from the ones, who hurt everyone..." -I'm sure drug addicts tend to be paranoid, so this most likely means turning away from the ones you love who you are positive are trying to hurt you, when in fact they want you sober.

"And you're fading with every day [You could've been the next one, you should've been enough for me]..." -State the obvious.

This is merely a theory. :]

To me this song is about walking away and turning your back on something that made you happy (the sun)

"Walk away from the sun and tell everyone"

This is telling everybody that knows about that one thing that makes you happy.

"Walk away from the sun and kill everyone"

This has you killing everybody (emotionally) because they can't stand to see you just walk away.

"Fading with every day"

This is about you and everybody else being affected by the decision that you've made.

THe drug thing is interesting, and sort've fits with my idea of how it makes me feel like someone who loses themselves completely. Personally I see it as a person who does everything for attention "cry for some fun" or to make themselves feel better. and that "walk away fromt he sun, and kill everyone" is like walking away from yourself and your hope and stepping over the bodies of the people in one's life. When A person loses themselves to clockwork in the world it makes me think of someone who is 'fading with every day"

I think this song is about leaving something behind, such as leaving the your past, maybe being picked on and having a hard life as a kid maybe. Being bullied and just having rough times and your finally leaving it behind and starting something new. I don't like how people think it's about drugs, people just say that when they don't have a clue what the song is about. This song has a profound meaning and theres something about it that really keeps it close to me.

I agree with you, Dan772, about the whole not-liking-that-people-think-it's-about-drugs thing.

My favorite lyric outta the song is "This smile is so hard to wear..." maybe because I can relate to it so well. There are many times where I've had to fake a smile when it seems like my world is falling apart.. and it's hard to wear, but I'd rather not burden the people I know with my problems.

I can see everyone else's view, this is just mine.. I could be way off :)

I reckon this song is about suicide, i wont go into every line, i'll explain a few that made me think this way..

"I could bleed for a smile, I could cry for some fun"

This line implies his depression, exactly what he'd do to be able to smile, or have some fun..

"Theres so much left in the air So much to tell from the stare Theres so much left to defend, but I am no fun"

There's still lots of stuff going on, he's sick of being judged.. and "So much left to defend, but i am no fun" he knows hes taking the easy way out, but cannot be bother justifying it..

"This smile is so hard to wear, but I have no gun"

He's so sick of pretending to smile, the only reason he continues to, is because he has no 'gun' or any other means he wishes to end his life by..

I dont know, i could be completely wrong, it's just what i saw when i listen to it :)

The Sun is life Giving...You walk away the sun...you slowly start to die...inside and outside...There so much left int he air "Clearing of Thoughts" the Empty stare...there is so much...I can tell by your smile...the concern fake look you get when people don't want to bother you cause of your mood...The Similes so hard to ware..and i have no Gun...I could Bleed for a smile...cutting ...

There's so much left to defend, but I am no fun having no self confidence in life anymore....

I agree w/ black rose.. It all sounds like the trials one goes through when going through a drug treatment program. The first half of the song seems to deal with the withdrawal phase and the latter half is a reflection of the past and the struggle to maintain sobriety.

This line strikes me as him saying he could go back to drugs and make excuses about it, but instead he's just going to take the sober road.. In the eyes of other users he's not being 'fun'.
