I agree w/ black rose.. It all sounds like the trials one goes through when going through a drug treatment program. The first half of the song seems to deal with the withdrawal phase and the latter half is a reflection of the past and the struggle to maintain sobriety.

This line strikes me as him saying he could go back to drugs and make excuses about it, but instead he's just going to take the sober road.. In the eyes of other users he's not being 'fun'.
