Nobody's commented on this one yet? I'm slightly surprised as this is one of my favorites of The Kooks.
Anyway, I find take this song to be about fate. At least this line: "‘Cause I’m always where I need to be And I always though I would end up with you eventually"
Wherever he is in his life, what he's doing, whoever his friends are, it's how it's supposed to be at the time being. Thus the "Always where I need to be". Nothing is ever a mistake. And because of fate, he believes he'll end up with this person, obviously, when he says "And I always though I would end up with you, eventually"

the acoustic version has such better lyrics though the original is funner if you get what i mean btw i love it!
well i've heard both versions of the song now: i think its about a girl who tends to adapt to be likable to whoever she's with. in the other version:
"She don't know who she is, Oh,I can take her anywhere, Do whatever comes naturally to you,"
he can take her anywhere because she'll just fit in with everyone.
"But I always thought I would end up with you eventually,"
perhaps he tried to break up with her but then they ended up back together?

Just the meaningless of the relationship. Neither of them care, perhaps its they're just getting back together because of familiarity and its easier then starting something new?

this reminds of a person i know.he doesnt like me and i can barely talk to him but im always watching him(i.e like a stalker)therefore im always where i need to be.and he could do or say anything and i just would not care..
