@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Do you want to go to the seaside?
I'm not trying to say that everybody wants to go
I fell in love at the seaside
I handled my charm with time and slight of hand
Do you want to go to the seaside?
I'm not trying to say that everybody wants to go
I fell in love at the seaside
She handled her charm with time and slight of hand, and oh
But I'm just trying to love you
In any kind of way
But I find it hard to love you girl
When you're far away
Away
Do you want to go to the seaside?
I'm not trying to say that everybody wants to go
But I fell in love on the seaside
On the seaside
In the seaside
I'm not trying to say that everybody wants to go
I fell in love at the seaside
I handled my charm with time and slight of hand
Do you want to go to the seaside?
I'm not trying to say that everybody wants to go
I fell in love at the seaside
She handled her charm with time and slight of hand, and oh
But I'm just trying to love you
In any kind of way
But I find it hard to love you girl
When you're far away
Away
Do you want to go to the seaside?
I'm not trying to say that everybody wants to go
But I fell in love on the seaside
On the seaside
In the seaside

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms.
“Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.

Somewhere Only We Know
Keane
Keane
Per the FAQ on Keane's website, Keane's drummer Richard Hughes, stated the following:
"We've been asked whether "Somewhere Only We Know" is about a specific place, and Tim has been saying that, for him, or us as individuals, it might be about a geographical space, or a feeling; it can mean something individual to each person, and they can interpret it to a memory of theirs... It's perhaps more of a theme rather than a specific message... Feelings that may be universal, without necessarily being totally specific to us, or a place, or a time..."
With the nostalgic sentiment and the overall tone of the song, I think Keane is attempting to express a Portuguese term known as 'saudade', which does not have a direct English translation but roughly means "that which we remember because it is gone."
It sounds to me like the guy is in love with a girl and he is wondering how she feels about him. He hasn't SEEN her in a long time and I think it sounds like he is missing her and he is feeling confused.
Maybe the "seaside" is where they fell in love. He is still in love with her. He wants to go back and experience that again and/or start over with her on the "seaside". He asks her if she wants to go. Maybe they are tired of the "slight of hand" situation. But, maybe that was their only option for expressing their feelings for each other for awhile. That's why he sings that he is just trying to love her, anyway that he can. Maybe it is difficult for them both when they are far apart. Because obviously at one point they were very close.
I hear fragility and weariness in his voice. I love the singer for this. They were in love before and he is missing her. No matter the outcome, it sounds to me like they really just need to SEE each other, to feel better.
I think they need to go back to the see-side.
this song has a special meaning to me...for me it's about you being on holidays and there u just met a person who is fantastic, u fell in love with..and u know it's going to end after the holidays but u just try to enjoy the time u have with the guy/girl as much as possible...that's for me what the beginning of the song means :Do you want to go to the seaside? I'm not trying to say that everybody wants to go I fell in love at the seaside I handled my charm with time and slight of hand
Do you want to go to the seaside? I'm not trying to say that everybody wants to go I fell in love at the seaside She handled her charm with time and slight of hand, and oh
but now the holidays r over and both have to go their own way..although u still like the person, u know u gotta move on, and its hard to still love him/her coz they r far away, and somehow u realise that the relationship never had a chance coz the two lifes were just too different :But I'm just trying to love you In any kind of way But I find it hard to love you girl When you're far away Away
then the end of the song u think about the good time u had, it's ok being sad but it's also ok to move on and meet new ppl..
basically this song for me is about that one guy, i still like him but its hard coz he is far away, we had a great time togehter but we also knew it couldn't last forever..the lyrics r so simple but they explain the whole situation..one of my fav songs of the kooks..thank you guys (:
There are not enough words in the English vocabulary to describe the beauty of the song. I grew up on an island so the word seaside is charged whit longing. I will never forget all those summer nights at the seaside. But I still wonder if it was the shoreline or the girl beside me I fell in love with.
'But I still wonder if it was the shoreline or the girl beside me I fell in love with.'<br /> <br /> I know its not the song... but wow.
agreed :)
This song is very good and I know it kindof just sounds like one of those really cute and well written love songs, but.. I actually think it's about someone who is trying to fill a void. Like, when you lose a love, you want it back, so you try to make yourself or convince yourself to love someone else. In this case, he's asking her to go to the seaside because that's where he fell in love before and maybe it could happen again, and maybe this big void of what he used to have can be filled.
"But I'm just trying to love you In any kind of way"
that's just my take on it!
Even if you fell in love on the seaside and want to go to the seaside and are in love with the one you fell in love with on the seaside and/or you are in love with the seaside, can you just take off and go to the seaside? Can you go to the seaside to be in love with the one you fell in love with on the seaside and spend your time loving each other at the lovely seaside?
Oh I wish life was like this song. I'd go to the seaside.
