Trumpet, Trumpet, Toot! Toot! Lyrics

You gotta memorize all the lines, and
Brother Thespian, you'll be fine
You gotta define your breath in beats
With a graduation pen, use mind

Stage left, enter Maggie, looking hurried,
She has a parcel in her arms
Are you the leopard, or the virgin,
Or the child in a grown man's beard
All out of place and hanging off his face
By the time the audience cheered?

And you were feeling pretty cocky
On the day you became an actor,
I know the thing I shouldn't say
So I'll leave it at this:
I hope you get what you're after
And if when you're out you see the hundredth rose
Fall from the sky,
Brother, stick that thing in the ground and
Say a heartfelt prayer for your safe arrival

I'd like to think that the actors never banded
I'd like to throw this trumpet down and go empty handed
The part of the virgin has been taken
So let me throw this trumpet down and go empty handed
If you're the virgin
Then I'm the stand-in

I'd like to think the actors never banded
I'd like to throw this trumpet down and go empty handed
Go "ah-ah, ah-ah, ah

These are the correct lyrics:

We gotta memorize our lines, and Brother Thespian we'll be fine Whoa oh oh oh oh You gotta refine your breath and beats with a graduation pen—use mine. Whoa oh oh oh oh Stage left, enter Maggie looking hurried, she has a parcel in her arms Whoa oh oh oh oh Were you the leopard, or the virgin, or the child in the grown man's beard all out of place and hanging off his face by the time the audience cheers?

And you were feeling pretty cocky on the day you became an actor. I know the thing I shouldn't say, so I’ll leave it at this: I hope you get what you're after. And if when you're out you see the hundredth house fall from the sky Another stick-flat thing in the ground. Say a heartfelt prayer for your safe arrival

I'd like to think the actors never panic. I'd like to throw this trumpet down and go empty-handed. Part of the virgin has been taken, So let me throw this trumpet down and go empty handed, oh. If you're the virgin, then I'm the stand-in.

And I'd like to think the actors never panic And I'd like to throw this trumpet down and go empty-handed. And I'd like to think the actors never panic And I'd like to throw this trumpet down and go empty-handed. Lalalalala

I was listening to this song while trying to fall asleep and i accidentally put my hand on the volume and turned it all the way up right at the weird loud part...i nearly peed myself.

Sorry for the double post, but I think "abandon" might be the correct lyric, although "panic" makes more sense to me. Aside from that, the above lyrics appear accurate.

It seems like this whole album is about a stage production, but in post-modern form (kind of like the book The People of Paper), the lyrics are also about the director, and what goes on in his personal life.

i'm pretty sure it's "banded". it's more related to the subject.
