The Conversation Lyrics
You remember how we met?
Silhouetted by the lights?
You were drunk and tried to take
A mental picture with your hands
I was thinking about that
And a bunch of other things
Stop looking at the floor
I need to pour out this expansive dose of words
I can't explain
I need to be... alone
I know the timing isn't great
But these things you just can't plan
I just need a little time so I can find myself again
'Cause I get buried underneath
All the things they think you are
And I'm too tired to pretend
It doesn't hurt to be left out
I had a pocket full of dreams
But I gave them all to you
Now I think I want 'em back
So can you tell me if I'm crazy or confused?
Don't ever change
The way you are
I've never loved anyone more...
Silhouetted by the lights?
You were drunk and tried to take
A mental picture with your hands
And a bunch of other things
Stop looking at the floor
I need to pour out this expansive dose of words
I need to be... alone
But these things you just can't plan
I just need a little time so I can find myself again
All the things they think you are
And I'm too tired to pretend
It doesn't hurt to be left out
But I gave them all to you
Now I think I want 'em back
So can you tell me if I'm crazy or confused?
The way you are
I've never loved anyone more...

I love the part:
'Cause I get buried underneath All the things they think you are And I'm too tired to pretend It doesn't hurt to be left out
So describes my life right now.
This song is incredible. just simple words of a conversation.
I find in some relationships, one person sometimes ends up "burning brighter" than the other. It's hard to be in a relationship where one person gets all the proverbial "sunlight" and the other ends up having to stand in their shadow.
You can love someone completely, but still feel unfulfilled...and often that's just a question of taking time to reset, contemplate and move forward. Sadly, that sometimes means having to let go. That's more or less what I get out of this track.

another time it isn't great = I know the timing isn't great
:[ this make me sad. poor justin (it's stated majority of the songs are about a recent break up and I think it's evident in this song)
"don't ever change the way you are. i've never loved anyone more" wow. that breaks my heart.
This songs amazing, but it's missing that explosion ending they were hinting at in the webisode...
Very Ben Foldsy, I know the band loves him. I hear it especially when he sings '...alone'
You were drunk and tried to take A mental picture with your hands
makes me sad as well :{
LOVE ben folds. LOVE mcs. LOVE this song. i think we can all pick out the ben folds influence but I love how they did it. its wonderful. i think this is one of those songs that i just classify as "beautifully depressing".
"you were drunk and tried to take a mental picture with your hands" -i really like that. i dont think its sad at all. its cute to think of some girl getting drunk and doing that. oh well
I had a pocket full of dreams But I gave them all to you Now I think I want 'em back
i like this song, break up. obviously.

I randomly found this song (through this site!) just glancing through their lyrics. And I can't stop replaying it. (I originally came for "Hold Me Down").
The thing I like the best is if you follow the lyrics, you can truly illustrate in your mind the entire relationship...
The begining, happy and silly with the mental picture.
The begining of the end -- the conversation begins with "Stop looking at the Floor", the other person has either become apathetic towards the relationship or is too ashamed to look him in the eye.
And finally the reality of the ending crashing down -- "I had a pocket full of dreams..." realizing that those dreams will never be achieved with that other person.
I feel like the singer himself is unsure if he should break if off, but knows he has to try something new. At the end when he sings "Don't ever change, The way you are, I've never loved anyone more" -- you can envision him days after the break up rethinking the decision, or even saying it to the other person as they walk away.
This song is so simple, but so complex in emotion that it can evoke such a feeling that causes tears or goosebumps because it is so easy to relate to. Remarkably good, MCS is now one of my favorite bands.
