your always runnin around
with everyone else but me
your such a catastrophe
but hold on youve been running for o' so long
and soon ill be gone

youve gotta build it and then breakdown
give it a daze to drop your jaw to the ground
then youll know what to do and well pick it up
pick it up and give it right back to you

save your breath and get down with me
i never thought it would be this easy
to spread you like a disease
in this heat you'll be sweating out your dignity
youll always be sucha catastrophe

and im making a list of all your so called big plans
and im really having trouble cuz
its longer than the strech of my attention span
wait what were we talkin about again

youve gotta build it and then breakdown
give it a daze to drop your jaw to the ground
then youll know what to do and well pick it up
pick it up and give it right back to you

save your breath and get down with me
i never thought it would be this easy
to spread you like a disease
in this heat you'll be sweating out your dignity
youll always be sucha catastrophe

and how about yourself
and do you have what it takes to raise the stakes
and show you have it in you to just pick up and go
give me a reason to see things through
untill the end because im on to you
im gonna need a shovel to dig myself outta this one

save your breath and get down with me
i never thought it would be this easy
to spread you like a disease
in this heat you'll be sweating out your dignity
youll always be sucha catastrophe (2x)

    My Interpretation

Fortunately, i don't think this song is about high school prom drama, lol. To me it sounds like a girl he lost respect for. "you'll be sweating out your dignity." It is someone who sounds promiscuous, but he must have some feelings for as he is upset by this. But he will fuck her anyway "save your breath and get down with me, i never thought it would be this easy to spread you like a disease." I think it's about having feelings for a girl who wasn't ready for a relationship so he took what he could get in a sexual sense. The hostility in the song comes from realizing she wasn't available for anything more than that.

i think it's "to spread you like a disease" not "to spread your legs and to say."

i feel like this is about a few things.. probably about a girl who screwed things up.. and then he is trying to get back at her, hence "spread you like a disease." he thinks this girl is really full of herself- "i'm making a list of all your so-called 'big plans'" and he wants her to prove to him that she can just leave him/everything for these "plans." i think he also thinks that because she screwed up she needs to prove to him that she's changed.. "give me a reason just to see things through until the end because i'm on to you."

    that's confusing. just my take.

"in this heat you'll be sweating out your dignity" instead of "and this scene.." i love this song and band.

I think it is about a guy who was/is waiting for a girl to come to him but she's so oblivious that she's not coming so he's getting impatient with her and is gonna give up and leave hence "but hold on you've been running for o' so long and soon ill be gone"

she has all these big plans and tells him everything but she's oblivious to the fact that he likes her

I think the only reason I could decipher this song is because a guy had this song and it was about me I'm his oblivious girl that he's getting impatient with

TO me its about a guy who really likes a girl and he finally got up the balls to ask her to a big event (possibly a big dance like prom)

your always runnin around with everyone else but me your such a catastrophe but hold on youve been running for o' so long and soon ill be gone

(shes been dating everyone but him and shes kinda a mess, wild and such but shes getting tired and he sees it. he reminds her that his senior year of high school is almost over and hes heading away soon)

save your breath and get down with me i never thought it would be this easy to spread you like a disease in this heat you'll be sweating out your dignity youll always be sucha catastrophe

(first line, I think its just the guy saying "lets hang out and dance with me" and he realizes it wasn't that hard '"never thought it would be this easy to spread you like a disease" to get her to go to prom with him and meet all his friends. in this heat you'll be sweating out your dignity to me is her just going crazy on the dance floor and sweating)

and im making a list of all your so called big plans and im really having trouble cuz its longer than the strech of my attention span wait what were we talkin about again

(they get carry away in conversation and she tells him all her plans for the future)

and how about yourself and do you have what it takes to raise the stakes and show you have it in you to just pick up and go give me a reason to see things through untill the end because im on to you im gonna need a shovel to dig myself outta this one

(this part is mainly about their relationship and how she too will just pick up and go and by having feelings for her, the guy is just digging a hole for himself)

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
