The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

It is someone who sounds promiscuous, but he must have some feelings for as he is upset by this. But he will fuck her anyway "save your breath and get down with me, i never thought it would be this easy to spread you like a disease." I think it's about having feelings for a girl who wasn't ready for a relationship so he took what he could get in a sexual sense. The hostility in the song comes from realizing she wasn't available for anything more than that.

i feel like this is about a few things.. probably about a girl who screwed things up.. and then he is trying to get back at her, hence "spread you like a disease." he thinks this girl is really full of herself- "i'm making a list of all your so-called 'big plans'" and he wants her to prove to him that she can just leave him/everything for these "plans." i think he also thinks that because she screwed up she needs to prove to him that she's changed.. "give me a reason just to see things through until the end because i'm on to you."
