Lead Sails (And a Paper Anchor) Lyrics
Marching along,
Like a good soldier does,
I'm setting sail,
With anchors holding me down,
Pack up my bags,
Stow them away (Stow them away),
I'm bidding farewell to all that is safe,
Will I come up for air?
Come up for air,
After a while the current is calling me,
Lulling me, waving me goodbye,
I'm out here alone,
Oh God can you save me now?
Sinking, my heart turns to stone,
Withering away,
A shrinking violet dies,
So full of life,
These lights have dried me out,
Into the sea,
I needed a drink,
I never thought this would consume me whole,
Will I come up for air?
Come up for air,
After a while, the current is calling me,
Lulling me, waving goodbye,
I'm out here alone,
Oh God can you save me now? (Save me now)
Sinking, my heart turns to stone (Turns to stone, turns to stone),
Sinking, my heart turns to stone
Save me, take me home,
Over and over again,
Save me, take me home,
Wishing that this all would end,
Save me, take me home,
Over and over again,
Save me, take me home,
Wishing that this all would end,
After a while, the current is calling me,
Lulling me, waving goodbye,
I'm out here alone,
Oh God can you save me now? (Save me now)
Sinking my heart turns to stone
After a while, the current is calling me,
Lulling me, waving goodbye!
I'm out here alone,
Oh God can you save me now?
Sinking my heart turns to stone (Turns to stone),
Sinking my heart turns to stone.
Save me, take me home,
Will I come up for air? Will I come up for air?
Save me, take me home,
Will I come up for air? Will I come up for air?
Save me, take me home,
Over and over again,
Save me, take me home,

Its in no way anything like Good Charlotte...
My initial interpretation is that it is about war, and its effects.
"Marching alone / Like a good soldier does" - (and I believe these to be the correct lyrics) indicates the loneliness associated with being a soldier in the war.
The very (impossible) concept of a boat with Sails made of Lead and an anchor which is made of Paper indicates role reversal (not that Sails are made from Paper...) and a general impossiblity - the knowledge that victory is elusive, and in no way can anybody win.
"Sinking my heart turns to stone" - This is representative of what War can do to you, physically and psychologically.
In no way is this a take off of any specific band, but as Alex Varkatzas says on their MySpace page, it is an experimental era of the band, and that by producing songs such as this, they are attempting to diversify and prove that they can be more than just screamers.
I like it - I wouldnt pick it as Atreyu if I didnt know, but I would like it if it came from another band, which is no reason to not like it because it is orchestrated by Atreyu.
Welcome to the show you narrow-minded, self-appointing assholes.
I'm Captain Hyphen, and I say that you fucking nay-saying idiots know nothing more than what you've taken out of your textbooks and have converted into real-life.
There! I've done it again!
Another hyphen.
This band is well ahead of it's fans, and it becomes common-knowledge when they record a song such as "Lead Sails", and you whiney bitches gather in arms about how it should be "an epic ending", or that it's expected to be lacking in "screaming".
Oh yeah. And for the D.O.U.C.H.E. that compares this song to K.T. Tungstall......
.....FUCK YOU.
I'm not too good to tell you where you belong.
This song, however, IS too good to have to suffer the consequence of your dip-shit opinion.
Way to be "fans". And since many of you try so hard, while you're at it, write the rest of us a song, and post it on here for us to critique. Sufinati0n; I'm waiting on you.
By the way, that's clever how you use a '0' as an 'o'.
P.S. Listen to some Country Music, then go fuck yourself.
scottboy is now my new best friend. are you guys serious. this song is fucking amazing. country has no such meaning as to this song. as scotty said go listen to it then fuck yourself. if you cant even understand this song you need to seriously stop listening. dont judge this song because it is a little different then the others when it is just as good.

one of my favs off the album (which i love)
...what happened to their powerful masterpiece of a last song? ...every cd had it's own unique last song with a powerful phrase at the end of it...this, wtf is this? wayyy to make a last impression of the cd with a really slow/country song...oh wait! you guys still have the epic cover coming up...i forgot...
lol! this song is about alex and his drinking addiction. saying that it is turning his heart cold, that he isnt going anywhere (lead sails), and that he wishes it could end but it isn't. strong meaning but what a shit ending to an album!!!!! oh no!!! we have an epic ending!!!! hahaha
it's not really his drinking problem... it's talking about the war... (amazingly... I read what e wrote it about.... lmao)
wtfffff
good charlotte/kt tunstall much? GOD.
