And baby, why don't you just stay?
I'll sing you songs in bed all day
And I'll give you blankets just to keep you warm
Anything to keep you away from that door
But I can't keep you away

And now I know it, why you got to go
I was just hoping that I could say no
A kiss goodbye, and she don't touch my lips
Just walk away and then my stomach twists
Don't go, don't go
Baby, please don't go

And keep walking away
(Keep walking away)
Start your car like you mean it this time
And I'll watch you from behind my bedroom window
As you're pulling away
I only wished that you would stay
But you don't

And I came to see you and I should have known
A wasted plane ticket to Ohio
We're sleeping naked
I'm the one you chose
But who else see's you in this bed
Without your clothes?

I never believed a word you said
(You still don't)
I still don't

And you're so clever with the way you think
I'll never know it didn't mean a thing
And a kiss goodbye, and she don't touch my lips
Well, just walk away, cause I don't need that shit

Keep walking away
(Keep walking away)
And start your car like you mean it this time
And I'll watch you from behind my bedroom window
As you're pulling away
I only wished that you could stay
I only wish that you would...

And come and whisper in my ear
"If I don't come back, come and find me."
Always leave to make a scene
Pretty eyes, the joke's on me

Come and whisper in my ear
"If I don't come back, come and find me."
Always leave to make a scene
Pretty eyes, the joke's on...

Keep walking away
And start your car like you mean it this time
And I'll watch you from behind my bedroom window
As you're pulling away
I only wished that
I always wish
I only wish that you would stay
I only wish that you would stay, yeah

Keep walking
Keep walking
Keep walking
Keep walking
And keep walking away

Right now, your voice would shut me down
So shut me down
Right now, your voice would shut me down
So shut me down now

Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
