How To Break A Heart (Poem) Lyrics
How to break a heart
It is not difficult
Anyone can do it
So could you, if you tried
Just find a light
And switch it off
As easy as blinking
That's what I was taught
When I was too young to ask
By ladies in white nightgowns
In dripping weeds and black ribbons
A girl's best friend is a small handgun
The question was useless
For I could say yes
But you've got to ask my army
And they are not inclined to grant favours just now
It is not difficult
Anyone can do it
So could you, if you tried
Just find a light
And switch it off
As easy as blinking
That's what I was taught
When I was too young to ask
By ladies in white nightgowns
In dripping weeds and black ribbons
A girl's best friend is a small handgun
The question was useless
For I could say yes
But you've got to ask my army
And they are not inclined to grant favours just now

I absolutely LOVE this artist and this poem!!
I agree with Thesaya about it's meaning. It sounds like maybe she was convinced by the ghosts of women to break the hearts of men. (Kind of reminds me of "Willow" a little.) They could be the ghost of women who were by men in their lifetimes. As far as the last two line go, I think she is referring to the ghosts her "army". And the very last line is probably because, as I said, they were hurt by men in their lifetimes.
It's about the asylum, I think. "You should be killed by an army of little girls" : D anyhow, I love listening to this. It has a nice .. flow to it.
the last stanza confuses me
what question?
how to break a heart
as for the army, this seems like emilie is controled by her fans?
I'm AMAZED no one has commented this fabulous poem. Though the meaning seems a bit sketchy, the lyricism in this poem is gorgeous. I somewhat understand it but the way to express it has escaped me.
ummmm...the only reason no one commented on it is because i never heard "this fabu. poem" before. but if i did ever hear it, im sure it will be the best peom EVER!!!!!!!
It, together with "at what point does shakespeare say" and "ghost" is added in the Limited Deluxe edition of the album Opheliac. And it is wonderful. One interpretation could be that it is about a girl turning down a proposal, simply because she was tthaught to do so by the ghosts, or mindghosts, she has spoken too since she was little.
I totally don't get the last 2 lines...?
This poem seems a bit ambiguous to me.But still.I like it. :)
