About someone that judged him but have him completely wrong. Possibly a woman who he took everything she said with a grain of salt.
I can't quite interpret the "On a cross" part. Maybe someone judged him by his appearance and guessed him to be Satanic.
I always thought this song was where someone had taken control of your life, saying "you got me hanging upside down" as a metaphor for losing control. Maybe someone you've told secrets to, then they twist what you say and take over your life.
