Enemy Lyrics
The words you used were mine, used a thousand times
Doesn't make them what I've bled
I hated you, I loathed you
Though felt, I never let the words begin to spill
Make me sick 'till I can't breathe
Never want to be your enemy
Silence me, so I can't be,
Never want to be your enemy
I walk the
[Chorus]
High road away from you
God knows what I've been through
This is the life I have, this is the life I choose
I walked away, the high road away from you
Walk away, walk away, you made an enemy
I never, I never wanted, I never wanted to poison or burn through
Labeled malcontent, by bastards of descent,
Excuse this place I stand, words are to elude you
Make me sick 'till I can't breathe
Never want to be your enemy
Silence me, so I can't be,
Never want to be your enemy
I walk the
[Chorus]
Deep inside realize never want to be your enemy
Change me, rearrange me, make me your enemy (Yeah)
Deep inside realize never want to be your enemy (Walk away from)
Change me, rearrange me, make me your enemy (Enemy, yeah)
Deep inside realize never want to be your enemy (Walk away from)
Change me, rearrange me, make me your enemy, your enemy

About a person that is hated by the author of the song (McCombs), most likely Tim King of his former band SOiL. He tried to just avoid the person but they would use his own words in different context against him (as King did when he insulted him for leaving the band to be with his family). Now he's admitting his hate and standing up for himself.
"though felt, i never let the words begin to spill"
how good is that!!? being the better man in not rising to the situation. that sentence could be taken in so man ways.
not giving someone the satisfaction not being brave enough to give away your feelings not being able to say what you think due to circumstance and consequence
Meaning is clear avoiding enemy But this song has something magic by listening to it I can do two hundred push-ups it's freakin energetic
