I think it's about two people who are too scared to leave each other. Or maybe not scared, but just too familiar to let it go. They're not necessarily happy, just used to one another. They keep going through the same motions together because it's routine to them. And it's like breathing underwater because it's so hard for them both. I don't know why but I think the part about their legs trembling and them getting caught is about them having sex. So maybe the sexual aspect of their relationship is still alive, but emotionally they're both having trust issues and wanting to be in the other person's head to know all their secrets, but they're keeping secrets from each other because they think that's helping the relationship. That's how I see it.
Also, I think maybe he says underneath instead of overneath. Since underneath is actually a word :P
This song is about what happens to people who end a relationship and want to get back together. He is singing about overcoming things that happened in the past, but hes not sure if they can. We all know that couple that breaks up and gets back together more times than you can count. This song is about them, and why they keep going through that. Its about overcoming the secrets and regrets that keep driving them apart.
I can't believe how early this CD leaked. Not that I'm complaining: I'm quite delighted and will buy it asap. I wish I knew what he is saying when the piano kicks in. It seems like he says something like: Wanna get away from you can't get rid of this (?)
