Liar, Liar Lyrics
You're such a great big liar
With the tallest tales
That I have ever heard
Fire fire,
You set my soul on fire
Laughing in the corner
As it burns
It's sinking in
And watched the sailors going down
Oh oh, you talk to me in siren song,
Yeah, anyone would drown
Anyone would drown
Of this mad desire
Fluttering inside me
Like a hawk
Wire, wire
You’ve got my hands on wires
Heaven help you
When I get them off
You’ll feel it then
And watched the sailors going down
Oh oh, you talk to me in siren song,
Yeah, anyone would drown
Anyone would drown
Fall away the sound
Oh the ships go down
And watched the sailors going down
Oh oh, you talk to me in siren song,
Yeah, anyone would drown
And watched the sailors going down
Oh oh, you talk to me in siren song,
Yeah, anyone would drown
Anyone would drown
"the sirens sang so sweet and watched the sailors going down oh oh you talk to me in siren song yeah anyone would drown">>>probably my favorite lines on the whole album. sirens were a part of greek mythology. they were women/half gods that lived on islands and lured sailors in resulting in the sailors death. i think this song is comparing the way a guy acts or the things he says to the sirens' songs - meaning it is deceptive yet so beautiful.
This song is about having such a great connection with someone, but that person just ending up leading you on and whatnot. Though she knows he's leading her on, she can't help but still being attracted because he makes her feel different than any other person has before.
this song is about being lied to and possibly led on by some one who she loves and desires, they ay have told her they loved her and that was the "tallest tale" and she imagines his lies as a joke yet she still desires him and it hurts her deeply
at first i really didn't like this song but now i really love it. i love aff :)
You’ve got my hands on wires Heaven help you When I get them off
I laughed.. those are good lines to live by..
I think this song is talking about a guy who keeps flirting with her and he's a ladies man and when it says you don't do me in siren song it's talking about how his pickup tricks don't work on her and he keeps throwing lies at her but she's not naieve and she tells him sraight up that she's no fool and all she wants to do is to show this guy how it feels to be tricked and lied to like she watches him do all the time as he breaks peoples hearts and it irritates her how he feeds off how she is bothered by him doing this.
definetley about a flirt, she's sick of what he's doing, but loves it at the same time maybe ? "Oh oh, you talk to me in siren song, Yeah, anyone would drown Anyone would drown" but he's also a big talker, so he can be liked so much; and again she doesn't like the ay he can control her emotions.. i tihnk ?
It's definitely about being tempted and led on by someone who you know is bad for you, who you know is lying but you choose to be with them regardless.
i love this song, in the chorus is is saying something about sirens, i think this is inspired by Greek mithology because when the sirens sing the sailors drown and she is comparing herself as the sailor and as his as the siren
While it uses the metaphor of a siren sinking ships and taking the sailors down with them, this song is about more than just flirting or being misled.
"Oh oh, you talk to me in siren song. Yeah, anyone would drown..."
Basically, she's singing as an observer of her own temptations and actions. A good analogy would be "The cat is out of the bag." By confronting her own desires towards this "sailor", she also confronts that no matter how wrong she thinks this sailor is for her, he's taking with him what she longs for the most. His admiration.
The best thing to do is ask yourself, "Just who is singing the song to whom?"
This helps put into light the fact that SHE is the one singing, yet finds such sadness in her loss doing what she is born to do. Sing the song of the siren.
The song really gives no solution to the dilemma, but they answer is for her to swim in a new direction. By confronting what she does to others through the power of her beauty and song.
The ultimate face-off of deceit. Instead of lying and sinking ships, learn to sing the truth and be responsible for feeling the pain of your own actions.
I guess the easy way out is to learn to forgive. Not the sailor, but herself.
Funny how a song can deceive the hidden answers it holds...
