Fell in Love Without You Lyrics
the acoustic version on their myspace is just as amazing. it's MUCH slower.
love it.
I think maybe it could be interpreted as an old lover who has died.
his heart is beating solo because she isnt alive anymore and he waves goodbye to it because he doesnt think he could love anyone like he loves her.
They used to say that they were 'in love' but he never thought it was real and they had both moved on however, when she has died he realised he loved her but she was dead. Thus he fell in love without her.
The memory of her. the loss of her. they are the aching wounds. they leave a mark on him like a bruise.
Only time will tell if he can ever fall in love again. The violins swelling. In memory of her. his first true love.
The coupe de grace can either mean a death blow to end her suffering which could refer to some tragic accident severly hurting her and the mercy would be to pull the plug to end that suffering. or it could just be the decisive event of her death as after she is dead they have no chance to be together.
She was an optimist. She thought the stars in the sky were big and bright. she saw the best in the world. But the world took her away from him so the stars arent big and bright. there isnt much good in the world.
This is probably all wrong but i just wanted to put a different version out there. I dont see the song as him braging that hes found someone else. and i dont see it as if they are just breaking up.
I always interpreted the line, "last night, I fell in love without you" in the sense that he's fallen for or quite possibly, fallen back for the girl, but the feeling isn't mutual and then tries to save face by throwing away any feelings or emotions because he knows subconsciously that it would never work out with the line, "I waved goodbye to that heart of mine beating solo on your lawn."
"only time will tell if violins will swell" The way that I had interpreted this line was that for the girls he's fallen for, or fallen back in love with, nothing has happened yet and he is just waiting.
"The stars at night aren't as big and bright as you make them out to be." I pretty much agree with everyone's interpretation of this line, but I also see it as a way of telling the girl that something in particular just isn't that big of a deal to him, be it expensive jewelery, or a cliche date or anniversary.
I always try my best to relate my life to the songs that I listen to and this song came to mind not too long ago for me. Four years ago, this girl and I had started dating, and then two years later we broke it off. I hadn't seen her for two years. There was even a point in time where I had completely forgotten about her, but the moment that I saw her again after two years of barely ever talking to her, just the sight of her made me fall in love again and regret the fact that the relationship end. That's why I can somehow interpret as a lost love or a love. The feeling may or may not be mutual, thus the violin line.
"in memory of what we used to call 'in love'" maybe back then they the two weren't really in love, but thought they were. it could have been a strong puppy love or an immature high school relationship.
You're first person I've seen on here that I've found that interpreted the "last night I fell in love without you" line the same as I did. I completely agree that it's eluding that he's fallen for a girl, but the feeling isn't mutual. He fell in love with her, but she didn't fall in love with him. And you're interpretation of "I waived goodbye to that heart of mine beating solo on your lawn" makes so much sense.

I agree with the rest as well, but this first part was the most different from other interpretations. Nice job.
It's supposed to be "Beating solo on your lawn." but I can't figure out how to fix it, so here :/
This song is awesome.
The moog solo in the middle is brilliant.
And yeah, I love this song. So excited for EIIKM
Updated the lyrics according to the Broken Heart CDS Import booklet... a few spelling mistakes etc. nothing major.
Just noticed something... A woman whispers something in the intro to this. Anyone know what it is?
"Don't stop" is what I hear
yea it's don't stop. i acutally really like the concept of this song. not quite sure how it reflects justin's life (seeing as like every other song on this album is about his relationship), but i haven't listened to it that much.
i like the key change
the dont stop seems a little dirty/cheeky dosent it
hahaha this is in the websodes!
