Baptized with the perfect name
The doubting one by heart
Alone, without himself

War between him and the day
Need someone to blame
In the end, little he can do alone

You believe but what you see
You receive but what you give

Caress the one
The Never-Fading rain
In your heart
To tears of snow-white sorrow
Caress the one
The hiding amaranth
In a land of the daybreak

Apart from the wandering pack
In this brief flight of time
We reach for the ones, whoever dare

You believe but what you see
You receive but what you give

Caress the one
The Never-Fading rain
In your heart
To tears of snow-white sorrow
Caress the one
The hiding amaranth
In a land of the daybreak

Reaching, searching
For something untouched
Hearing voices of the Never-Fading calling

Caress the one
The Never-Fading rain
In your heart
To tears of snow-white sorrow
Caress the one
The hiding amaranth
In a land of the daybreak

Ok, mmm This is what i think about Amaranth, being one of my favorte songs ever...when you find a meaning it just get more beautiful.

    Look:

Baptized with a perfect name The doubting One By heart Alone without himself

This stanza talks about Tuomas. This song has a lot of biblical and religious touches, and "Thomas" is the doubting disciple of Jesus. Then, he's referring ti himself, as "the doubting one by heart", And "Alone without himself" it's just because Tuomas constantly feels alone, and "without himself", pretty reminds me to the story on TPATP.

War Between him and the day Need someone to blame In the Little he can do alone

I think he talks about a war that he feels he have with this world. "Need someone to blame" could be something related to what happened recently in his life. "In the end little he can do alone" simply as it says.

You Believe But What You See You Receive But What You Give

Well, this is a well known pseudo psychological thought...maybe referring that you can only harvest what you've planted. You planted hate, you can only receive hate or another feeling.

Caress The One The Never-Fading Rain In Your Heart The Tears Of Snow White Sorrow

For me this can be like "Caress the pure pain in your heart, all the sorrow, like something dear 'till it goes to sleep forever"

Caress the one, the hiding Amaranth in the land of the Daybreak

Then, Caress the love, the immortality, the happiness, even more dearly than the pain, in a new whole world.

Apart From the wandering Pack In This Brief Flight Of Time We Reach For The Ones Who Ever Dare

Apart from the world, he (or they, like wanderers) reach for those who want to live again, to dare to dream even when everything looks gray.

Reaching, Searching, for something untouched hearing voices of the never-fading calling

reaching for the immortality, maybe for the happiness, something untouched maybe for him or for everyone. Hearing the voices of the hope, that forever stays in the heart of the people who dare to dream.

This is my personal interpretation ^_^

So this has been.my favorite song of OTEP's since it came out in 2004, and I always thought it was a song about a child's narrative of suffering in an abusive Christian home. But now that I am revisiting the lyrics, I am seeing something totally new. This song could be gospel of John but from the perspective of Jesus. Jesus was NOT having a good time up to and during the crucifixion. Everyone in the known world at the time looked to him with fear, admiration or disgust and he was constantly being asked questions. He spoke in "verses, prophesies and curses". He had made an enemy of the state, and believed the world was increasingly wicked and fallen from grace, or that he was in the "mouth of madness". The spine of atlas is the structure that allows the titan to hold the world up. Jesus challenged the state and in doing so became a celebrated resistance figure. It also made him public enemy #1. All of this happened simply because he was doing his thing, not because of any agenda he had or strategy. And then he gets scourged (storm of thorns) There are some plot holes here but I think it's an interesting interpretation.

Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
