This song, to me, screams War in Iraq/Bush.

It's about people not recognizing what the troops are doing over there - which, to Brett, is murder.

I might have gotten this one all wrong, but to me this is basically a diss of all of "humanity", and about evolution and how humans are actually apes e.t.c. Saying how society is still really fucked up despite laws, religion and schooling and all that stuff.

the song isnt about religion but in fact about the war currently going on. its like a song making fun of soldiers and how they listen to dumbasses like bush and become naive or oblivious to what they are actually doing.

if your "discontent" to know your worlds a pile of shit. then listen to a riddle that will tickle it. the riddle being DUH the song and its basicallt tickling the fact that its dumb. ape in the song represents humans, possibly the soldiers fighting and killing. Humans shall not murder, Humans werent so sure like we arent sure why we had any fucking business in iraq in the first place.. Bad humans made a mistake and we fix it by killing each other. cultivation being proper morals couldve been good for us and raise us up unscathed " not injured". if we had called that fucker " MURDER" by what it really is.

basic summary.... apes conquor man because they evolve, they rule and belive they are better than man (because no ape has ever murderd another ape) and in my oppinion they are.... were..... better. untill an ape kills another ape. then everything ends.... their whole system goes corupt and the world practicaly ends in chaos and murdeing consumption.... because an ape broke the soul rule...

even the chords the play are basic.

Its about somebody who committed a murder.. and basically is a pictorial of how society and the judicial system look down upon him before putting him away for life... in a very primitive way...

in the purest form, They look down at him as an untame monkey who has to be put away because it cant behave itself.. in society.. saying if you had good parents or were somehow brought up the right way, this might not have happened, but its too late for you

Seems to me that this song is about how religion screams at us to abide the laws they impose onto us, however, if you look at how far the world has come today (war, genocide, hate crimes, etc.), you will see that even though we deem ourselves as religious god-loving people who live in a beautiful bliss-like world, we do not realize we totally oppose our faith and its laws.
