If I could, then I'd
Shrink the world tonight
So that I would find
You and me inside

A life in love, a picture of a place I'm nowhere near
A bleeding heart, a good head start to anywhere but here
Just let me out; please, let me out before I turn into
A box of things reminding me how much I'm missing you (I am missing you)

If I could then I'd
Shrink the world tonight
So that I would find
You and me inside
Of the last good scene
A film that changes things
Breaks us, makes us sing
Leaves us wondering

And through the wall my fist you call, but then you always run
So what's it for, the love and war? It's only fair for some
You saved the girl, you saved the world; well, that's not true it seems
A lesson learned, speak out of turn; I bite my tongue, it bleeds (bite my tongue it bleeds)

If I could then I'd
Shrink the world tonight
So that I would find
You and me inside
Of the last good scene
A film that changes things
Breaks us, makes us sing
Leaves us wondering
Are you wondering?

If I could then I'd
Shrink the world tonight
So that I would find
You and me inside
Of the last good scene
A film that changes things
Breaks us, makes us sing
Leaves us wondering

If I could
Shrink the world tonight...
If I could
Shrink the world tonight...

I don't like this song. It lacks emotion especially when he says I am missing you. It isn't said with much strength.

anyone else think of Heroes with the line "you save the girl (cheerleader), you save the world"? just wondering

this ended up being one of my favorite songs on the album, although i didn't like it at first.

long distance relationship.. he wants to shrink the world, if he could he would. he wants them closer and he wants things to be how they were the last time they were together.

It reminds me of Heroes. Not just because of 'you save the girl, you save the world' but I do think that it reminds me of Clare.

A life of love A picture of a place I'm nowhere near A bleeding heart A good head start to anywhere but here

    • A picture of a place I'm nowhere near reminds me of when Clare's mother takes a picture of Clare to remember her by and then leaves for Mexico (A good head start to anywhere but here.)

Just let me out Please let me out Before I turn into A box of things Reminding me how much I'm missing you (I am missing you)

    • reminds me of when Clare was with the Petrellis and she didn't think she'd ever see her father again. Or possibly how much her mother would miss her, but more likely her and her father.

You save the girl, you save the world Well, that's not true, it seems A lesson learned Speak out of turn

    • save the cheerleader save the world, it doesn't really seem like tha. since in the 2nd season, sylar could have killed adam instead. and in the first season it wasn't always clear why clare needed saving. speak out of turn - nathan said 'am i speaking out of turn?' to clare's mother when they were on the phone. or something.

but really, all that shows is that i'm just majorly obsessed with Heroes. hahaha.

No I totally agree with you Miss-R, this isnt the first time they've made a song like this, such as "How I Go" on Lights and Sounds is obviously about Big Fish Although this isnt as obvious, it could still very well be about Heroes and I think it is as well, esp after reading your post

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
