Tonight my heart well it broke like glass
I made a mistake that I'll never surpass
I'm floating in space unattached to the world
I cast off the memory of the spell of that girl
Whatever I get I guess its what I deserve

I don't remember
Just what made it so hard before
I know you needed someone to take the fall
I know you needed someone to blame it on

I smashed the mirror just to look what's behind
Picked through the pieces just to see what I'd find
I found my heart and it broke like glass
I made that mistake that I'll never surpass
I let go of my grip on the past

I don't remember
Just what made it so hard before
I know you needed someone to take the fall
I know you needed someone to blame it on

Hey, hey don't you look away
Hey, hey I've got something to say

Perhaps it's about a broken relationship?

    Powderfinger don't seem to write stuff along these lines often, but whenever I listen to this song I think of it in reference to one. I guess the entire first verse makes me think that it is,;

"Tonight my heart well it broke like glass I made a mistake that I'll never surpass I'm floating in space unattached to the world I cast off the memory of the spell of that girl Whatever i get i guess it's what I deserve"

I can't really think of any other meanings this song could have.

At any rate it's a great song to sing along to with mates... one of the better songs off Dream Days, but the entire album is pretty good quality.

I love powderfinger to DEATH. and their new album is still of the same quallity as the rest!! love it!

I'm not entirely sure what this song means. To me the first seems as though its as if he's just broken up with someone, and the second hes going back through memories adn moving on, and saying he cant remember why it was so hard to move on before.

    Either way, kick arse song!

I think it's about a relationship that has ended, and one of the people is looking back on the relationship fondly, and isn't able to remember what made it so hard before. "I don't remember/just what made it so hard before"...and maybe he/she is realising the relationship wasn't that bad and is wants the other person back.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
