Black Tears Lyrics

Fragile little thing
Go lightly on the wing
Don't be put off your game
If troubled wind should blow you off your way
Natural love and trust
Have downed their tools and struck
The nation's heart it rusts is no surprise
And seems so appropriate today

Black tears on a red rock
Fall right through and they dry up
How could it fail to grab your attention
Black tears on a red rock

These trees bear a strange fruit
Harvesting lies and poisoned blossoms of the truth
There's blood on all our hands and blood on our boots
And black tears on a red rock

An island watch house bed
A black man's lying dead

An island watch house bed
A black man's lying dead

This song is about the 2004 Palm Island death in custody trial.

The song was pretty controversial when it came out

Apparently this song's lyrics were rewritten before release. Does anyone know what the original unaltered lyics for this song were?

Uh, no, they have never released it. they might at a later date though. I certainly hope so.

Black tears is about how awful native Australians have been treated, and still are treated, and how disgraceful it is, and how it reflects upon us, even though we may not have necessarily done what has been done, it's up to us to fix it (although it won't be forgotten).
