its a breakup song to most people, and probably what its supposed to be. it means something different to me. its about a friendship to me, but its pretty much the same thing in my circumstance.

obviously it's about kelly kicking a guy out for trying to hold her back... a typical breakup song

I reckon its pretty much about wat Pinkbutterfly said, but also that she keeps being tempted to go back to him, like in the line 'Every time I want to talk to you But I can’t'. -hayles-

I think that they broke up, but the guy is trying to work it out still. She's saying that it's not any easier for her, but he blew it, breaking up with her. He shouldn't waste time trying to fix what will never be.

Pinkbutterfly, don't you think it would make more sense that he broke up with her??? Idk, maybe you're right, it's just the lines: "You held me You felt me You left me" suggest that he blew it.

This is one of the only songs where I like the chorus better than the verses or the ending. I know it's corny, but I love the "Friend, what does that even mean?"

this song reminds me of me and my ex... he left me for my best friend...and i told him to get out of my life and now it getts hard not talking to him when he was the one i went to with everything...

Obvious meaning...but can I just say I love the whole meaning of this song. I hate when you break up with someone and they're always like "we can still be friends"...well gee, that's just what I want...to still talk to you all the time as if everything is fine between us. um, NO! so I can totally relate to Kelly here... "friend, what does that even mean?" It's like, we're broken up, just forget me, move on, etc... =)

maybe she's talking about a friend...it's not necessary to be about a lover; she was his/her friend but something happened and they're not anymore, and the other person is trying to become a friend again but kelly would never belive him again cause he only pulled her down i adore u kellllyyyyy...

i think this song is about how a girl feels about a guy who has kind of screwed her over. but at the same time, i think the guy in the song still sort of likes her and wants to be friends with her, but she just "needs to forget" because this guy makes her feel worse about herself. so its like her telling the guy shes over him because he didnt treat her like a friend at all and especially not like something special, hence the break up. thats just my take on it and especially since i like am going through this situation right now i prob twisted it to fit my problem.
