I think that they broke up, but the guy is trying to work it out still. She's saying that it's not any easier for her, but he blew it, breaking up with her. He shouldn't waste time trying to fix what will never be.
Pinkbutterfly, don't you think it would make more sense that he broke up with her??? Idk, maybe you're right, it's just the lines:

You felt me
You left me"
suggest that he blew it.
This is one of the only songs where I like the chorus better than the verses or the ending. I know it's corny, but I love the "Friend, what does that even mean?"
