Ghosts Lyrics
I know what you're looking for
You've looked in these eyes before
And all you saw was blue green water
Searching for a mirror
That would show the world not who you are
But who you wanna be
And you thought you'd found out what it means
But it's been a long time since I heard that name
He doesn't live here anymore
Don't know where hes residing
You can wait here if you want
But I don't think he's coming back
He doesn't live here anymore
Sure you've found the right place
The same address you knew before
But that won't change what lies behind the door
And what lies underneath
The change from the inside out
He doesn't live here anymore
Don't know where hes residing
I think it's better if you go
Cause I don't want he coming back
Yes I know the name sounds a little bit familiar
Like a melody to a dream
Yes I know he wore the same face the same clothes
But that was so long ago
I know who you want to find
Somewhere is the memory of somebody I left behind
Well lets take it all stride
Its that time to say goodbye
He doesn't live here anymore
You've looked in these eyes before
And all you saw was blue green water
Searching for a mirror
That would show the world not who you are
But who you wanna be
And you thought you'd found out what it means
But it's been a long time since I heard that name
Don't know where hes residing
You can wait here if you want
But I don't think he's coming back
He doesn't live here anymore
The same address you knew before
But that won't change what lies behind the door
And what lies underneath
The change from the inside out
Don't know where hes residing

Cause I don't want he coming back

I think Chris is talking about his old self, the alcohol & drug abuser. It's like he met someone after a long time, and this person is looking for the "old" Chris, the one that "doesn't live here anymore". That part of him is gone and he is happy this way.
I'd say you're on the right track, but that the old Cornell that he is referring to is the Soundgarden grunge star. People have come knocking on his door and judging all of his work based on Soundgarden, when he has evolved into a completely different musician then he was back then.
Well it could be both alcohol/drug and the Soundgarden grunge star.......that was what he was but not what he is now.
I think he refers to hisself changing! A part of him has changed and it was something he doesn't want to remember! And I agree with gothic plague!

Sorry for sending it twice!! It was my first message!
