Don't Make Me A Target Lyrics

Here come the man from the stars
we don't know why he go so far
and keep on marching along
beating his drum

Clubs and sticks and bats and balls
for nuclear dicks with dialect drawls
they come from a parking lot town
where nothing lives in the sun

Don't make me a target (3x)
When you reach back in his mind
feels like he's breaking the law
There's something back there he got
that nobody knows

He never claimed to say what he says
He smells like the inside of closets upstairs-
The kind where nobody goes

Don't make me a target...

"they come from a parking lot town" A very apt description of Texas, as long as this song is about who I think it is about.

I agree that this is about Bush, but I'm surprised no-one has mentioned this interpretation of the song's title yet: don't make me a target is a reference to Bush's international aggression fostering hatred of Americans and increasing the culture divide. This in turn creates a higher likelihood of terrorism and war affecting the American people. So Britt is protesting against these actions when he says "Don't make me a target"

Being from Texas myself, I hate how it is always associated with Bush when he is not really a fair representative of the people in the state. Just like he isnt really a fair representative of what everyone in America thinks, even though he is from America just like he's from Texas.

I think thats kind of what this song is talking about in a way, except more specifically in the case of nuclear attack. Why should I be the target of nuclear war when I had absolutely nothing to do with the horrible decisions made by some dipsh*ts in office.

I also love how he never specifically mentions Bush, but leaves it as more of an abstract concept while alluding to the "dialect drawls" and such. Bush isnt evil, hes a great guy, the problem is that he should be the owner of the Texas Rangers and not the president of the US. Im sure Britt Daniel feels the same misrepresentation from our fellow statesman.

Have you been to Texas? Never heard of King Kong? Come to Austin or San Antonio!
