Captain, I'm Fine and Thank You for Everything Lyrics

Captain's glory
The trumpets will sound
I'm unfamiliar
You're under the ground
And I tried crying
But strength was unveiled
You left us you bastard
You left us to sail

And I won't, let you down.
No I won't, let you down.

And in the winters
I need you around
I still feel sorrow
And I still write it down
And my children they're just fine
They'd have loved you, you know
Their father's a captain
With a beard just like you

And I won't, let you down
No I won't, let you down

Indeed it is

what's heartbreaking about this is in the song "right away, great captain" the sailor says outright, "please dont leave me." and by the end, everyone he has ever loved has left him. his wife, his children, and now even the man he confided in, who he loved more than his wife, is gone.

Does anyone have any insight as to when the captain died? In which song that is?

The boat caught on fire while the sailor was lighting matches in his cabin, The captain saves him and dies in the process.

"Gasoline Family" is when he starts the fire. "Cause I'm so Scared of Dying" is when the captain dies saving him.
