Evidence Lyrics
You have eyes that lead me on
And a body that shows me death
Your lips look like they were made
For something else, but they just suck my breath
I want your pain to taste why you're ashamed
And I know you're not just what you say to me
And I'm not the only moment you're made of
[Chorus:]
You're so sudden and sweet all legs , knuckles, knees
Head's blown clean off, your mouth paid off
Fuck me till we know it's unsafe
And we'll paint over the evidence
Want you wanting me
Want what I see in your eyes
So give me something to be scared of
Don't give me something to satisfy
[Chorus]
I want your pain to taste why you're ashamed
And I know you're not just what you say to me
And I'm not the only moment you're made of
[Chorus x 2]
And a body that shows me death
Your lips look like they were made
For something else, but they just suck my breath
I want your pain to taste why you're ashamed
And I know you're not just what you say to me
And I'm not the only moment you're made of
You're so sudden and sweet all legs , knuckles, knees
Head's blown clean off, your mouth paid off
Fuck me till we know it's unsafe
And we'll paint over the evidence
Want what I see in your eyes
So give me something to be scared of
Don't give me something to satisfy
And I know you're not just what you say to me
And I'm not the only moment you're made of

Its a cheating song! on some level.. "paint over the evidence" its about sex so covering it could only mean that its cheating.. by the way, "Head’s blown clean off, Your mouth’s paid off" is about a blowjob. though it doesnt seem like meaningless sex.. & a last thing.. Marilyn Manson seems in love or something on this last album, no? anyway the album's awesome
the nice part of the lyrics is how many interpretations people take from it.
I think everyone so far has been wrong, but that's me. reminds me of someone close to me.
she's closed to him, closed off from him. shuts him out.
she in appearance draws him in, attracted and pulled in by her eyes drawn to death, to her. she's very attractive looking, but she only hurts him, sucks his breath.
she's hurt, she's injured, she's got a hole in her. he wants to know what's hurting her. maybe he wishes she could see herself like he sees her, no shame. maybe some instances where she was upset and said "I'm fine." but we all know you're not fine. you're not what you say to me. you're not fine. something is upset you, but you won't say. maybe a little codependancy. he's not the only moment you're made of - he's not the only thing in your life? there's a bit of ego in him, for certain, but this is his perspective.
so sudden and sweet, when the good times are here, they are so good. and then they're gone like that. she says something so hurtful it blows his head off. your mouth paid off, you wanted to hurt him well it paid off you got it.
if she's the type to cover up her feelings and not express them he's saying let's have fun, let's fuck until things are bad again, and we'll just paint over the evidence of our pain and hurt. we'll just cover it up, if that's what you want. sorta him giving up a little, at least recognizing the pattern and saying "fine, fuck it, play it your way."
but like I said, the nice part is how you can take the lyrics. some folks on here might just see it as 'it's about sex, she's blowing him lol' because maybe that's the extend of their experience in a relationship. or some thing they're cheating.. maybe the experiences they've had or been exposed to.
meh. good song.
This song is about Manson being in love with Evan, the relationship with Dita was pretty much over the time he was writing this album. The chorus is pretty much how Manson is mesmerized by Evan, the paint over the evidence line could be a reference to cheating, its well known, Dita said in interviews that Manson cheated her with Evan.
best song on the whole damn album!
and it's about Evan Rachel Wood. (or so it seems)
Nah, I think it's about Dita. I heard that all the songs on the album are about Dita except If I Was Your Vampire & Heart-Shaped Glasses.
This is definitely his best work since Mechanical Animals. It's a shame that he had to go through a devastating end of his relationship to put out good music, again.
Great song. One of my favs off the new album!!!
OK. He seems to be painting an image of a woman with her mouth around a shotgun while she is fucking him... then he pulls the trigger.
This song is definately about Dita and not Evan. He seems to have a grudge against this woman. He pretty much hates her. Wants her dead. Wants her humiliated as well in this song.
Powerful song.
Just my interpretation.
To me, this song alludes very much to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I have read Manson took a lot of inspiration from Lewis Carroll when writing the album.
To me, the lyrics "And we’ll paint Over the evidence" alludes to the cards painting over the white rose with red paint. Also, "Head’s blown clean off" might refer to the obsession the Queen of Hearts has with beheading anyone who offenses her.
Awesome song, pretty much the only decent one on the album. Oh little Manson how you have changed
@Danielle224 if you don’t mind me asking, what was it about the album that made you feel like this was the only good song? I’m an edm producer and dj in the Pittsburgh area so the music I make doesn’t have a lot of lyrical content most of the time. So when people listen to edm and say it’s a bad song or album it’s easier to understand because they most of time are basing it off of the actual musical arrangement of the track or certain sounds that please or displease the ear to the individual. I personally love...

So when people listen to edm and say it’s a bad song or album it’s easier to understand because they most of time are basing it off of the actual musical arrangement of the track or certain sounds that please or displease the ear to the individual. I personally love this album. There are only a couple songs that I could maybe skip if it came on at random but it’s still unlikely. I don’t understand how you could feel that way about this album. But just for a musician/artists perspective I would like to gain some knowledge as to what makes a song or album good or bad to the masses of listeners. Was it the concept of the album? Were the lyrics to personal or biased towards something? Or was it just the musical arrangement or melodies in the songs?
i agree that this song is the best on whole album! and hope he will play it on concert. on 20 of june.
