I can't believe I'm the first on this song but I think it may be just about a couple breaking up. He knows it's the right thing too (Something I won't regret) The guy leaving the girl (I am running away from)and the girl is not ready yet, but he knows he has to leave and never come back, not to let her get to him again which is the burning the bridges part. To keep you from getting to me again.

yea. definitly about a break up. in my opinion. "to keep you from getting to me" I dont think he means physically. Like, you know how "wow that person is really gettng to me" like bothering, annoying, ect. So he just wants to leave. So i'll just sit inside And write these stupid songs I have no reason why i do this i guess it's for the fun
