C'mon

I read the book from back to front
It made a deep impression
Twenty thousand pages baby
And I hoped for some direction
I stood before the mirror
I stared at my reflection
I'd almost disappeared
And I made no impression
I went down to my baby's house
And I sat down on the step
Said 2000 years of Christian history baby
And you ain't learned to love me yet
My baby looked me in the eye
My nails were bitten to the quick
She said you used to love me all night long
But you've gotten so thin and sick

I'm gonna send you, send you, a love bomb, a love bomb

I'm gonna send you, send you, a love bomb, a love bomb

I read that book from back to front
Looking for some inspiration
I'd been listening to the radio
Trying to find some self expression
I been listening to the Woman's Hour
I been listening to Garden Question Time
But every thing I try to grow
I can't even grow a dandelion
Yeah, I've been watching the MTV
I've been watching the BBC
And I've been searching on the Internet
And I'm getting so thin and sick

I'm gonna send you, send you, a love bomb, a love bomb

I'm gonna send you, send you, a love bomb, a love bomb

I went to my baby's house
And I sat down on the step
Yeah I went down to my baby's house
And I lay down on the step
She said what are you doing here
I said I been trying to make some sense
But every action that I take
Is of absolutely no fucking consequence
My baby said you can sit there
She reached down with her fingers
Her fingers went right through me
I screamed my head off
I was so thin and sick

I'm gonna send you, send you, a love bomb, a love bomb

I'm gonna send you, send you, a love bomb, a love bomb

I'm gonna send you, send you, a love bomb, a love bomb

Agreed, this one is amazing and beside great music lyrics are fantastic. To me it sounds like it is about agony of unreturned love and about hopeless feeling when we cant make an immpression no matter how much we tried. No clue what Christian history part means, ideas?

Well, Jesus taught about love etc...

"Said 2,000 years of Christian history, baby And you ain't learned to love me yet?"

It's like: so long and so much they talk about love, and there still so much of it lacking...

    Great lyrics.

And I believe it's not only about unreturned love, but general lack of meaning and hope in life...

"But every action that I take Is of absolutely no fucking consequence"

And different ways to make some impression or consequence, which fail... Then your final hope is love, which may come to you accidentaly, without your activity. And when it fails, it's like someone gave you a bomb in a present box with a tape...

While I'm not denying your more general interp, those lines about "every action that I take / is of absolutely no fucking consequence"... man, that's exactly how you feel in unrequited love.

This isn't just about not getting laid (see No Pussy Blues), it's the frustration and anger and insecurity and weight of "2000 years of Christian history, baby," when nothing makes sense, everything's wrong, you feel sick, things are not how they should be. Even though you're depressed or sad a lot, there are moments of frustration and anger about having to hold in your love (a love bomb).

Simply, this is a man in love (deeply) with a woman, but she says no. It shows up all over the Grinderman album, and that makes this the perfect closing song.

To me it sounds like someone doesn't love Jesus (thin, sick and despaired Jesus) back. Her disbelief appears to be manifested with her fingers that goes right through his body. He "almost disappears", maybe from feeling (additionally) meaningless. On this basic story lies a lot of love, belief and disapoinment related matters, that this song deals with.

I don't know how I forgot the "Love Bomb" part. Could be the revange of a frustrated messiah or the revange of his former believers. I haven't got that part yet.

I think it's about negative thinking and lack of self-love. He is so much into it that he can't get out. He expects help and love from other sources but he can't receive it. So he goes in circles and it gets only worse.

Love bomb = To ask too much love from others that you can't give to yourself and thereby creating problems in relationships

    or/and

love is the only thing that means something to him and he gives plenty of love that has nothing to do with love in a balanced relationship. He has to care for himself as well.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
