I Don't Know Why Lyrics
I don’t know why
Why you had to leave me
And I don’t know why
You said goodbye
Only if I try
Can I feel the earth beneath me
And as days go by
I come alive
The fall of your hair the feel of your skin and
The smile on your face as you took me in
Now I lie and stare at the sky, still I wonder why
I don’t know why
You said that you’d release me
No matter how I try
I still feel you
I watched a falling leaf
Drifting down towards me
Carried by the wind
It disappeared
I sat in disbelief
At what had become of me
And as the day grew dark
I rose to go
As I walked along
I thought I heard you call me
Alas I was alone
So I went home
The fall of your hair the feel of your skin
The smile on your face as you took me in
Now I lie, no longer cry but still I wonder why
I don’t know why
You were taken from me
I cannot forget or say goodbye
Why you had to leave me
And I don’t know why
You said goodbye
Can I feel the earth beneath me
And as days go by
I come alive
The smile on your face as you took me in
Now I lie and stare at the sky, still I wonder why
I don’t know why
You said that you’d release me
No matter how I try
I still feel you
Drifting down towards me
Carried by the wind
It disappeared
At what had become of me
And as the day grew dark
I rose to go
I thought I heard you call me
Alas I was alone
So I went home
The smile on your face as you took me in
Now I lie, no longer cry but still I wonder why
I don’t know why
You were taken from me
I cannot forget or say goodbye

this song is actually very very beautiful.
This is a great song, I've only heard the live, acapella version, but its fantastic. Anyway on to the meaning: Its about a guy who's girlfriend/wife left him (died?). At first he can barely keep himself together "Only if I try Can I feel the earth beneath me And as days go by I come alive"
He trying to "come alive" again, but he is having trouble.
"The fall of your hair the feel of your skin and The smile on your face as you took me in Now I lie and stare at the sky, still I wonder why I don't know why You said that you'd release me No matter how I try I still feel you" He wants to get over her, but he can't stop thinking about her.
"I sat in disbelief..." That stanza is about how he realizes how "obsessed" with her he really was, and is determined to pull himself together. The rest of the song is pretty much him coming to terms that he will never get over her, but he won't cry anymore. He will never forget, and never say goodbye
This is my first analysis of a song, so I'm not sure how right I am.
Alot jtk... a fucking lot. I think i got to this moment in my life where i can really say i feel exactly like this song.
