Silently Lyrics
Silently, I wish to sail into your port, I am your sailor
Quietly, I drop my weight into your sea, I drop my anchor
I sway in your waves, I sing in your sleep
I stay till I'm in your life
I realize now you're not to be blamed my love
You didn't choose your name my love
You never crossed the seven seas
I realize now you're not to be blamed my love
You didn't choose your name my love
You never crossed the seven seas
Oh, sweet creature
I know exactly how you feel
Your clock is ticking, tick tack tick tack
Your heart is beating tum tum tum tum tum
Silently, I wish to sail into your port, I am your sailor
Quietly, I drop my weight into your sea, I drop my anchor
I realize now you're not to be blamed at all
You didn't choose your name my love
You die a little in my arm
I realize now you're not to be blamed at all
You didn't choose your name my love
We never crossed the seven seas
I realize now you die a little in my arm
Before you even taste my love
We never crossed the seven seas
I realize now you re not to be blamed at all
You didn't choose your name my love
You die a little in my arm
I realize now
Quietly, I drop my weight into your sea, I drop my anchor
I sway in your waves, I sing in your sleep
I stay till I'm in your life
You didn't choose your name my love
You never crossed the seven seas
I realize now you're not to be blamed my love
You didn't choose your name my love
You never crossed the seven seas
I know exactly how you feel
Your clock is ticking, tick tack tick tack
Your heart is beating tum tum tum tum tum
Quietly, I drop my weight into your sea, I drop my anchor
You didn't choose your name my love
You die a little in my arm
I realize now you're not to be blamed at all
You didn't choose your name my love
We never crossed the seven seas
I realize now you die a little in my arm
Before you even taste my love
We never crossed the seven seas
I realize now you re not to be blamed at all
You didn't choose your name my love
You die a little in my arm
I realize now

I see it as a tragedy of love:
One knows a person, and falls in love with him/her silently, with your own intentions and desires. So, one goes around to enamor them, not revealing your purposes: to stay in their lives.
You are not to blamed: it was my own crush on you, on your name, you didnt have to come all the way here, I came for you.
I even know you better than you do yourself, I studied you so I could win you over... and i succeeded.
The irony: you did everything to be with someone who (just like you) is dying everyday, taking the lovers apart from each other, and never knowing exactly how their love came to be. In love, silently for ever.

this song is about finding inner peace and forgiveness. without putting blame....because everyone is flawed..and ignorant in some way.....We are scared of getting hurt.....but its inevitable. "you never crossed the 7 seas" means ....that person doesn't know it all...
the way i see it is....perhaps she got hurt by somebody...but instead of blaming that person...she took the time to observe..and maybe saw something deep about that person...and maybe about herself.....
there is sadness to this song....but yet you feel like you're letting go of everything.
Silently, I wish to sail into your port, I am your sailor Quietly, I drop my weight into your sea, I drop my anchor I sway in your waves, I sing in your sleep I stay till I'm in your life
I feel that the singer has secret feelings that the object of her love either knows about or doesnt.. but she does possess that hidden desire to be in the perons life although she is conscious of how that is affecting him:
I realize now you die a little in my arm Before you even taste my love We never crossed the seven seas I realize now you re not to be blamed at all
Notes of Supremes' "Baby Love"
this song is beautiful. my favorite from "23"
it is such a pretty song. i just think is about the nature of relationships. sometimes, they just weren't meant to be, yet most of the the time, the timing isn't right, and someone gets hurt. perhaps, she is the one that got hurt in the past, and is just coming to terms with it. the beauty lies in forgiveness and being free of emotions associated with being hurt.
I love this beautiful song! On an analytical note I think there is a certain homoerotic tone to this song - specifically how she takes the more masculine role in the beginning ('I wish to sail into your port, I am your sailor Quietly, I drop my weight into your sea, I drop my anchor') and the refrain 'I realize now you're not to be blamed my love You didn't choose your name my love You never crossed the seven seas' has an almost Smithian quality - us against the world, the love that dare not speak it's name
"I realize now you're not to be blamed my love You didn't choose your name my love"
Reminds me of Romeo and Juliet when Juliet asks "Wherefore art thou Romeo?" Juliet asks why Romeo has to be Romeo and come from her rival family and not someone with less drama. Might only be a small reference to the play and not exactly central to the song or nothing at all, but you never know.
so soothing
I think she's speaking about her relationship with another woman.
"I realize now you die a little in my arm Before you even taste my love" I think in this sentence is pretty clear she is speaking about having sex with another woman.
I think the melody and the rhythm of the song is really sensual. I don't know, to me it sounds all as a free, naive hymn to the freedom of love.
