So Sorry Lyrics

I'm sorry, two words
I always think after you're gone
When I realize I was acting all wrong
So selfish, two words that could describe
Old actions of mine when patience is in short supply

We don't need to say goodbye
We don't need to fight and cry
Oh we, we could hold each other tight
Tonight

We're so helpless
We're slaves to our own forces
We're afraid of our emotions
No one, knows where the shore is
We're divided by the ocean
And the only thing I know is
The answer it isn't for us
No the answer isn't for us

I'm sorry, two words
I always think after, oh you're gone
When I realize I was acting all wrong

We don't need to say goodbye
We don't need to fight and cry
No we, we could, we could hold each other tight
Tonight...
Tonight...
Tonight...
Tonight...

I have a story to go with the meaning of this song.. lol...

My boyfriend and I started off as friends even though he was always interested in me. I hated going a day without seeing him and always wanted to hug and talk to him, sometimes we kissed. But I kept saying I didn't want a relationship. I really had no idea what I was doing or where we were going with it. Then one night after he left this song came on shuffle after a few glum hours, I listened and it dawned on me that I was leading him on because I was scared of starting a relationship. I ran to his room (we lived in dorms) a few buildings away and banged on the door, about 3am, he was still awake... answered the door, nothing was said and I kissed him. We got together properly the next weekend and still together two years later.

I can see many parallels to me story in this song... for me to do what I did is very out of character as a shy person frightened of showing emotion. And that is how great this song is.

song is pretty straightfoward. she doesn't want to fight or argue anymore, or break up. what a good opening track for this album.

She always drives her man away, and then after she's "so sorry" when she realizes she was the one in the wrong but by then it's too late. She just wants to be with him and have him near to him because she knows that things could be better and there is really no need to end the relationship

I don't think anyone can beat Feist when it comes to espressing emotions simplistcaly like this, and in such a poetic, evocative way!

"No one, knows where the shore is We're divided by the ocean"

So POETIC!!!! Its as if she's saying, just forgive me, lets just - foegt. And hold each other!

And I thought it was 'Slaves to our impulses' not 'forces' ...seems to amke more sense, but what the hey

It is impulses. But yes. I love Feist so much. She's so literate, and creative. This song, AGAIN, makes me cry. hmmm.

I was once seeing a girl. At first we both didn't want to have a relationship, but we kept our fling going. After awhile it became obvious that she wanted to start a relationship with me. I did everything in my power, including manipulation, to see that this did not happen, so I could have my perceived freedom.

Then I left to another city for a few months. I knew then, without her, that I was wrong, so when I came back I asked her to be my girlfriend. She was for a few months until recently when she moved to Europe. Now she is gone.

Karma came back, because I took advantage of her and manipulated her.

That is what this song reminds me of.

It's a great song, and I great open for The Reminder.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's "the answer isn't for our eyes," as opposed to "us."
