I'm not exactly sure what this song means, though it seems to be about a doomed relationship. (Like Lacuna Coil do so well at expressing about.) To me it seems to be about not being able to be with someone you love. Or in more detail, about having someone who loved you, and then when you finally begin loving them, they don't want you. You were too late to "have" them. Now the person is driving you crazy, and you can't stop thinking about them. (And "can't stay away" from them either.) I have MANY more ideas, however that idea seems to make the most sense to me. This is quite possible my favorite Lacuna Coil song, though I have many. I feel I can really connect with this song. Cristina has so much passion in her voice when she sings this, and it makes the whole song flow so nicely. It leaves me with the feeling of a pit in my stomach. Such a beautiful song. And for anyone who doesn't know, this was off of the Enjoy The Silence single.

I think this song is about the speaker confusing what they want with what is. For example: The speaker wants a friendship that she thinks she has yet the person who is "virtually" the speaker's friend does not want anything to do with the speaker so he/she justs ignores the speaker - yet the speaker still believes that she is his/her friend. (this can be with friends, lovers, family, ect.) It is strange and kind of sad, the speaker is lieing to herself by ignoring real life in place of what she longs for the most. She could be very lonely or have a rough family life.

this song is awesome and i agree with you both. but some how i kinda feel like this is like finding someone who you like but they just don't. and aren't. so they're left unfulfilled in a way. but still they can't stay away but yeah this is one of my favorites i don't know why they put it on the single.
