This year is old like a dying father
Whose will is out of spite
We pile into seperate agendas
With the songs of defeat

Playing in out minds

For you I give and give away
My unhappiness in color
For your abandoned heart to see them
To bloom into your world

Blinded to your perfect lands
To live like somber cattle
And we're gathered as seeds
To sprout mid Sahara

For who? For what?
For who? For what?

For who? For what?

For you I give and give away
My unhappiness in color
For your abandoned heart to see them
To bloom into your world

For you I give and give away
My unhappiness in color
For your abandoned heart to see them
To bloom into your world

I love this song. It's so beautiful, screw it, i love Sonny Moore, he really is amazing. I thought this song, in a religious way- maybe because i want to do it for some whacky prayer thing we do. I'm not the religious type really i'm not. I go to Church sunday's, but i curse like a sailor and i sin as much as i breathe. This song, reminded me of Jesus dying and giving EVERYTHING away. I hate when we use that term "I gave Everythhing away" when you gave one simple thing away. HE gave his life, i think that's what it is. And now to see the world, how it is today. If you gave up your life, to "save" poeple, and saw what happened in today's world, i think you'd puke. I know i would.

But really, i'm not that religious. I really odn't even believe in Jesus

I think the whole song is about his time in FFTL and the heroine album and him putting his voice out fans and shows repeatedly. Songs like world war me and waltz moore were really deep lyrics that showed his low self image and how he was becoming this icon for being unhappy. I think this song is about how he wants to change that to still show his feelings but for them to inspire people and make himself happier. But i could be totally wrong. Its so metaphorical [sp] it could be interpreted as so many things.

Its a really beautiful song. I think it suis him better. He deserves to go far.

I think this song is about his experience in FFTL and summarizing how he felt in FFTL and how/why he left,"We pile into separate agendas".

I agree with the person above me about the heroine album thang.

Sonnys lyrics are so deep , its hard to understand their meanings.

i love this song. :) my huge attempted line-by-line analysis is as follows (i have a lot of time on my hands, forgive me):

This year is old like a dying father Whose will is out of spite

i feel like this means that the end of the year is lasting a long time. it's existing out of spite for him. the year is only going on to remind him every day of how he left fftl, and how it's hard for him to establish his own identity away from the band.

We pile into separate agendas With the songs of defeat Playing in our minds

i think that this means that everyone has their own agenda and they really want to achieve it, but they bring themselves down before they even have a chance to give their all to completing their own agenda. i think that sonny wanted to leave fftl for a while, but couldn't because of he thought he'd never make it on his own.

For you I give and give away My unhappiness in color For your abandoned heart to see them To bloom into your world

he was miserable and honest about it. i think this has to do with the songs from fftl. he gives and gives his unhappiness away honestly in the songs, and the music bloomed into the abandoned hearts' worlds. they didn't feel so alone anymore.

Binded to your perfect lands To live like somber cattle

i think this relates to the beginning, about achieving your agenda. people are bound to their lives, and are unwilling and upset about it.

And we're gathered as seeds To sprout mid Sahara For who for what?

i think this means that everyone's oppurtunities present themselves at the worst and most difficult times. this relates to his split from fftl, because it was obviously a painful and upsetting transition for everyone.

i don't really know if this is right, but it's the way that i understand the song. it's gorgeous, no matter what anyone thinks it means :) kudos to sonny for producing such fantastic songs.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
