September Sun Lyrics

September sun blowing golden hair now keep in mind son
She was never there October’s rust
Bisecting black storm clouds
Only the deaf hear my silent shouts

Yet in the dark still he screams your name
Nights living death with witch rhymes insane
Ten years amassed para toda mi vida?
Lost man in time was his name Peter?

September sun rotted flatbush porch
I would have run then had I known the cost
Autumnal rays turned your eyes to stone
Did it give you pleasure to steal my soul

Yet in the dark still he screams your name
Nights living death with witch rhymes insane
Ten years amassed para toda mi vida?
Lost man in time was his name Peter?

Leave her alone. Me? - I know why

October Rust has a reoccurring theme about "her". Songs like "Love You to Death", "Be My Druidess", "Die with Me", "Burnt Flowers Fallen", "In Praise Of Bacchus", "Haunted" and their cover of "Cinnamon Girl". The girl all these songs were about parted the darkness, made it brighter, but she's gone and he regrets it.

"Para toda mi vida" is Spanish for "for my whole life". "Ten years amassed for my whole life?" To me, that's kinda like saying, "Ten years is all I get for my whole life with you?"

It's an unfair love song. To love someone so much, and to realize they're not coming back. Even after so long of being apart, still thinking about them, even to the point of forgetting who you are.

I do wish someone knew what he was saying during the bridge though.

Fuck! This song breaks my heart EVERY time I listen to it.

I think it's about Elizabeth, Peter's ex-girlfriend. Apparently she cheated on him and he found out and beat the hell out of the guy and went to prison for it. He does scream Elizabeth during the chorus, and I think that the "leave her alone" is a warning for all of her future boyfriends to stay away because he feels that she is still his.

Peter was not the same after they split, so that fits into the line "Did it give you pleasure to steal my soul?"

This is such a beautiful song and it is REALLY heart breaking when you think about it. :( Love you Pete

@HAlbers Peter in song is "Peter Pan". he's the embodiement for the "man lost in time"...

@HAlbers Peter Steele dreamt about what would happen if he was haunted in bright sunshine, so he proposed the song titled "September Sun."He began writing this song featuring melancholy lyrics about the dead, doom, and sadness, beginning the first line of lyrics with the song title. The song and the lyrics give inspiration about being depressed without being dark, which gives way to hope and reminisce, like experiencing the first sunset after sorrow or bereavement.

again, another song about how Peter will lead the uprising of the black peoples into a glorious reign over the US government.

Beautiful. My guess about the meaning is that it's a song about some "femme fatale" who breaks the heart of many men. The "Leave her alone"-part could be a warning to whoever might be interested in talking to the woman. Too bad the booklet doesn't include the Russian part, I'd love to know what Steele sings there.

i think 'leave her alone' reffers to pete saying to himself 'forget about her and live on'

September Sun nailed it. Beautiful song.

This is probably just a coincidence, but some of the lyrics in this song almost seem to be referring to the short story Dandelion Girl by Robert Young. It even directly says 'september sun' in the story. You can google and read the story if you wanna look into it further, it's pretty short.

This song seems to be about Peter's ex. At the one point you can hear Peter screaming "Elizabeth" in the background.

Was he with his ex for ten years or something? 10 years seems to be a common theme in TON songs...

@Philosowulf Yes, he had a girlfriend, and they were together for 10 years until she cheated on him
