All Across The World Lyrics

Underneath the shelf
Cracks appear in thick enamel
In this laps excuse for wasting time
I wait for signals shooting stars
I'd scrape through every branch
Coz I need to come down

Underneath the home
I lived in I was a page in someone's book
And no one asked me why
The page was fifteen stories high
I'm underneath that home wondering why

All across the world
There are things we need to forget and forgive
Sometimes we have to try and shed the damage we don't need
Oh justice shake your head
I'm wasting my time

We can break this drought
Wanna tell ya that I love ya
I need ya in the night
Sometimes I get so full
I wanna tell ya I'm feeling alright
I'm shaken to the bone
And on my way home

Adjust an omen at the door
Singing baby won't you please get a hold without it
And while you sit there on the phone tell me baby I'm a liar

You don't seem to care what I care about
and baby it's a shame to be wasted

All across the world
There are things we need to forget and forgive
Sometimes we have to try
And shed the damage we don't need
Oh justice shake your head
I'm on my way home

I think it (like a few other silverchair songs from both diorama & young modern) is about getting over the past, being able to move on.

Bite me UNKNOWIT88.

Personally, this song has really grown on me. I like this new theme of acceptance, it feels healthier.

This song is great and a good closer to the album.

i love the line 'sometimes i get so full i wanna tell ya i'm feeling alrights

I think it's about his relationship falling apart and living in England and Australia apart from each other.

yup that's what i pretty much got from it too. and sometimes i feel like he's saying she left him cause maybe he was too difficult to live with or he still had all these personal demons she couldn't answer and now he's al right but she'll just tell him he's lieing and well basically shit happens and you have to live with it

I also interpret the song this way, except IMO Daniel seems to be implying/admitting there was fault on both sides. And, although they've genuinely tried to work things out, he has come to the sad realisation that the marriage just isn't working out and a divorce is inevitable. He appears to be reasonably accepting of the situation; suggesting they should try to forgive and respect each other even after parting ways.

and its soundwise the best song on that record

We can break this drought Wanna tell ya that I love ya - You know when you like someone and you feel like playing hard to get? You know the person likes you too but you keep playing games and stuff... I guess that's the drought. Maybe both wanted to pretend like they weren't missing each other, but actually all he wanted to do is say he loves her, and needs her. But at the same time he isn't sure if he should just go "chasing" after her, so he says he wanted to tell her he was alright, just fine with that, and show her he didn't need her. But he actually did.

I think he gets pretty ironic at times.
