House of Cards Lyrics
Could I trouble you
Don't you know who you are
Since it came unglued
I fell and picked up all the parts
It seems to come together
That's where we come apart
I need that big connection
That fell down with my house of ...
I wrote an epitaph, less than a paragraph today
Rolled it up and smoked it
And took it to my insides
I'm ashamed
Cuz when I troubled you
You didn't even know just who you were
But you've come unglued
And all that's left were all my words
They mean nothing to you at all
Cuz my world, means nothing to you at all
My words, it means nothing to you at all
Cuz, my world, it means nothing to you at all
To tell the truth
So tell the truth, you know
I said I'm sorry
I said I'm sorry to you
You asked your questions
That needed tending to
And it is so good, when I am sober
And I am no good, cuz I'm a loser
And it is so bad when its so good
I'm sorry for you
Cuz my world, it means nothing to you at all
When my word, it means nothing to you at all
Cuz my words, they mean nothing to you at all
My words, it means nothing to you at all
To tell the truth
Don't you know who you are
Since it came unglued
I fell and picked up all the parts
That's where we come apart
I need that big connection
That fell down with my house of ...
Rolled it up and smoked it
And took it to my insides
I'm ashamed
You didn't even know just who you were
But you've come unglued
And all that's left were all my words
Cuz my world, means nothing to you at all
My words, it means nothing to you at all
Cuz, my world, it means nothing to you at all
To tell the truth
I said I'm sorry to you
You asked your questions
That needed tending to
And it is so good, when I am sober
And I am no good, cuz I'm a loser
And it is so bad when its so good
I'm sorry for you
When my word, it means nothing to you at all
Cuz my words, they mean nothing to you at all
My words, it means nothing to you at all
To tell the truth

Anyone with the meaning to this song??? or any ideas?
I see someones heard of black market ep! Though as I look at it more I find it is in fact Consumation version.
To me this song is about addiction, and how a little slip can make all the effort of overcoming the addiction fall down like a house of cards.
To be more pacific it seems to be about a couple who are brought together by their addictions. And as they try to quite the addictions the relationship falls apart.
These lyrics seem pretty accurate. Thanks for posting white pawn.
I think the song is also about a relationship, but drugs may be involved. J is saying that he's in this relationship with the girl and she uses drugs. he tells her that she needs to quit, but she doesn't want to hear what he has to say; shes content where she is at. he's upset that his opinion means nothing to him and he sees his relationship slowly falling apart
Definitely a relationship song...
Maybe he tried to fit into her "lifestyle" while trying to change it at the same time but realized he couldnt do both and was ashamed to trying to be in her lifestyle. He's a loser to her because of his unwillingness to participate in her addictions.
he needs a connection and he writes but nothing means to anyone. and the connection that he had was so fragile that the came down like a house of cards.
My own relationship just hit a huge rut and it will fall apart due to this rut, so this song is speaking volumes to me as I write this. To me, it is definitely a relationship song. And it has kind of already been said by hcmtnbiker. This guy has tons of problems and his life is falling apart. He is trying to fix it and tells her he is (my words mean nothing...). She, over time, realizes she is better than him. She doesn't care about his problems. She doesn't care what he is trying to do to fix it (drug addiction COULD be one of these unspoken problems though. We can't cast the rolled it up and smoked it line completely) or what he says he feels for her or what she means to him during his darkest hours.
The "I'm sorry for you" line towards the end is simply saying he is sorry that she could completely push him to the side and not care anymore. He accepts he is a loser and no good, as he always did. But he is sorry she went from a person he thought cared for him to a person who totally agrees and thus, leaves him.
I'm not sure where you get the addiction idea myself, possibly the "Rolled it up and smoked it" line. But to me It's about losing a girl he loves, one he believed was better then himself, but at the time she didn't believe so, but after time she believes it as well and cares nothing about him.
