Knocked Up Lyrics
I don't care what nobody says we're gonna have a baby
Taking off in a Coupe de Ville she's buckled up on navy
She don't care what her mama says, no, she's gonna have my baby
I'm taking all that I have to take cause takin's gonna shape me
People call us renegades cause we like living crazy
We like takin on the town cause people are getting lazy
I don't care what nobody says, no, I'm gonna be her lover
Always mad and usually drunk, but I love her like no other
And the doctor seems to say he don't know
Where we're gonna go
I'm a ghost and I don't think I quite know
Where we're gonna go
Where we're gonna go
People call us renegades cause we like living crazy
We like takin on the town cause people are getting lazy
I don't care what nobody says, no, I'm gonna be her lover
Always mad and usually drunk, but I love her like no other
And her daddy doesn't think he quite knows
Where we're gonna go
I'm a ghost and I don't think I quite know
Where we're gonna go
Where we're gonna go
Where we're gonna go
Where we're gonna go
People call us renegades
We like takin on this town
I don't care what nobody says, we're gonna have a baby

From an EW.com interview with Caleb
That song started with the melody and it started chugging along, then the first thing that came into my head was, ''I don't care what nobody says, we're going to have a baby.'' Everyone just looked at me in the rehearsal room and I threw my hands in the air and said, ''I don't know what to say – it just came out.'' I think the reason I talk about having a baby is because of my fear of an actual relationship. I can actually see myself having a kid before I can see myself getting married, and I know that goes against everything we were raised to believe, but the whole marriage thing...I don't know if it really works these days, which is unfortunate. It just seems divorce is inevitable. So for me talking about having a baby in that song, it's like the glue that might keep things together, or at least an excuse to make it last a little longer
the best kings of leon song.
to date.
this awesome song makes me think of romeo and juliet, defying all odds to be together and have their baby.
hes describing both of them as reckless and drunken and how people call them crazy renegades kinda makes us question their ability of being parents
but he explains in the song that this "taking" that being their current situation with running away and having a baby will shake but also shape him.
Another first track startup song...what a buildup, what a topic to build upon! Bravo

oh and CallieAwesomepants : i know its a trip but go to bonnarro! they are in the line up and its one of the best experiences you will have, ever
it's navy. i love when he says 'always mad and usually drunk but i love her like no other' it's one of the most romantic phrases of this song, in a rare way
"Always mad and usually drunk But I love her like no other"
there is something about those lines that is so romantic in such a warped way. it reminds me of a real relationship. the fact you have to take someone for the good and the bad.
i never noticed this before today, but a few seconds into it if you turn it up all the way you can hear caleb say, "hey dad"
I think the lyrics are pretty obvious (and fantastic). But i also think there's a deeper meaning in the actual tune. The song begins with a steady base. Nothing special. Then, all of a sudden, these high guitar picks jump in. It's almost like the base is all his buddies and family saying "what a stupid thing to do," and he starts agreeing with them. Then he realizes he's gonna have this girl to himself forever and actually have a child with her. He sees the happiness of the situation. The joy he feels is the high guitar picks. Think about it.
"always mad and usually drunk but a LOVER like no other"...and "she's buckled up on MAYBE" maybe??
it's definitely "maybe", not "navy"
