Love Song No. 7 Lyrics
Now that you're here
it seems every one of us seems to take the wrong way home
Now that you're safe with me
Trying to get a handle on the name of love
Safe and sound
So safe for now
You're safe and sound
So safe for now
Safe and sound
So safe for now
We're safe and sound
So safe, oh no
How does it taste to when you're screaming away your loved man
(As you walk away, it makes you feel sweet, warm)
Doctor said, "Son, you should carry a gun, all right?"
But it's the way that you talk
And it's the way that you move
Gravity's one thing
and gravity's something
But how's about coming down
It's a time and place in which to be alone
But lately it just don't seem so alone
You're no good night, oh right
Your other plane is skipping on, you must get flown
Safe and sound
So safe for now
You're safe and sound
So safe for now
Safe and sound
So safe for now
We're safe and sound
So safe, oh
Aaah, aaah....
Here, watch your back from here
it seems every one of us seems to take the wrong way home
Trying to get a handle on the name of love
So safe for now
You're safe and sound
So safe for now
Safe and sound
So safe for now
We're safe and sound
So safe, oh no
(As you walk away, it makes you feel sweet, warm)
And it's the way that you move
Gravity's one thing
and gravity's something
It's a time and place in which to be alone
But lately it just don't seem so alone
Your other plane is skipping on, you must get flown
So safe for now
You're safe and sound
So safe for now
Safe and sound
So safe for now
We're safe and sound
So safe, oh

Wow I think there should be a rule about posting the lyrics if you don't have the album. I have the official lyrics with me right now, so here I go.
Now that you're here and see Everyone of us seem to take the wrong way home Now that you're safe with me Trying to get a handle on the neighbor's lawn.
We're safe and sound so safe for now*
How does it taste to be swinging away for the night? Doctor said son you should carry a gun (for to) be alright... but it's the way that you talk and it's the way that you move around Gravity's one thing and Gravity's something, but
How about coming down? There's a time and place in which to be alone (but lately it just don't seem to alluring) You're no good not around Your elevator skipping all me best-dressed floors
We're safe and sound so safe for now*
Weird but you're back talking
I love this song!
*often, in lyrics in albums, the repeated choruses are only typed out once, so for the chorus I think the original writter is correct.
this song means hours of trying to figure out what CYHSY is singing without figuring it out. thanks a lot for the lyrics!
Not certain if that was sarcasm or not, but.. yeah. Thanks. Anyone able to figure out the rest of the background vocals?
The actual lyrics, I think, are
"But it's the way that you talk And it's the way that you move. Gravity's one thing and Gravity's something but How's about coming down?"
Otherwise, I'm lost. Beautiful song though.
Call me crazy, but when I hear this song I think of obsession and rape.
"Now that you're here it seems every one of us seems to take the wrong way home"
Someone (likely female) took the wrong way home, and was abducted, taken where she didn't want to be.
"Now that you're safe with me Trying to get a handle on the name of love"
The person who abducted her has known about her for quite some time, has been following her or stalking her. Might have deluded himself into believing that she loves him, and most certainly believes he loves her.
"Safe and sound So safe for now You're safe and sound So safe for now Safe and sound So safe for now We're safe and sound So safe, oh no"
The abductor reassuring the woman, telling her it's all going to be all right, she's safe with him now.
"How does it taste to when you're screaming away your loved man (As you walk away, it makes you feel sweet, warm)"
She screams too much, says something that triggers him, or something along these lines, and is killed. Walking away is a metaphor for going to heaven. Heaven would certainly feel sweet and warm compared to being stolen away.
"Doctor said, "Son, you should carry a gun, all right?""
The woman may have been with someone, her boyfriend or just a friend, when she was abducted, and he was knocked out or hurt in some way.
The rest of the song, I have no idea...but I just figured I'd take a stab at it. This is what the song means to me, so I may as well share. =D
Such a meaningful song... I'm not one to post three times in a row, but I would love to draw attention to this song so more people can post their ideas on it. I would love someone to say "you're completely wrong, and this is why" or say "you're correct, and you didn't see this piece of evidence which helps you" or whatever. Please comment on my interpretation. It's my first attempt really.
Ok, I'll comment because you seem like you really want someone to, but I don't really know what the song's about. I think the abuse interpretation is a bit of a stretch. Nowhere in the song does it say that the person is reluctant to go home, it just says, "Every one of us seems to take the wrong way home." I think that line is basically saying that everyone wants the same things in life (happiness, satisfaction etc.) but they don't know how to get them. I do agree with your interpretation of the parts about gravity, "how about coming down," and "your elevator..." I think it is trying to say that the person is avoiding reality, living in some sort of fantasy land, isolating themselves, and the speaker thinks it's "no good" when they're "not around" (in their own little world). There's a time and place to be alone, but you can't do that all the time. The safe and sound part also fits in with that because when people just stay in their security zone all the time it seems like everything is fine but really there is a claustrophobia involved, it's like you're trapping yourself. I think that's why the song, and the lines "safe and sound" in particular sound so doomy and gloomy - not what you'd expect from a love song. I also like your insights on the title. I never thought of it like he already tried to communicate this to her six times. That explains further why he sounds so demoralized. I like this song, it's great.
just wondering... this is called "Love Song No. 7" the other "love" song on the first cd was the 7th track... are these related possibly?
Instant love, this song.
These are the backing vocals lyrics I could make out from the instrumental version:
How does it taste to be swinging away for the night? (As you walk away, it makes you feel sweet, warm) Doctor said, "Son, you should carry a gun (for to) be alright"... (For you didn't say what was but our soul) But it's the way that you talk and it's the way that you move around (No, not near, not a part to hear. The sounds we feel and the words we fear) Gravity's one thing and Gravity's something, but
Please tell me if I'm crazy, but I hear:
But lately it just don't seem so ALLURING.
...Just a thought? It makes more sense to me that way.. Anyway. Love this.
