Drain the Blood Lyrics
I'm Living on shattered faith
The kind that likes to restrict your breath
Never been a better time than this
To suffocate on eternal bliss
In a city, that swells with so much hate
You seem to rise above, and take its' place
The heart pumps until it dies
Drain the Blood
The heart is wise
All my friends are murder
Hey, all my bones no marrow's in
All these fiends want teenage meat
All my friends are murderers
Away
I never met a pearl quite like you
Who could shimmer and rot at the same time through
There's never been a better time than this
To bite the head off the frost bitten eminence
All my friends are murder
Hey, all my bones no marrow's in
All these fiends want teenage meat
All my friends are murderers
Away, away, away
I'm alive in uterine
Star in the dark, a new day has dawned
Open up, and let it flow
I'll make it yours, so here we go
All my friends are murder
Hey, all my bones no marrow's in
All these fiends want teenage meat
All my friends are murderers
He's gone away
He's gone away
He's gone away
He's gone away
He's gone away
He's gone away
Away, he's gone away
Away, he's gone away
Away, he's gone, he's gone away
The kind that likes to restrict your breath
Never been a better time than this
To suffocate on eternal bliss
In a city, that swells with so much hate

hey astrozombie- i think the pearl reference isn't a positive one, about someone helping her out... it seems more like it's referring to someone who has betrayed her, like they shimmered like a pearl on the surface but in reality they were rotten all the way through.
Also, maybe she's talking about leeches? people who sucked her dry while pretending to be her friend? they tried to "drain the blood", but "the heart is wise" and can tell when the blood is being drained, meaning she caught on.
man I luv this song I can sound just like her, we have the same voice!
"I'm living on shattered faith The kind that likes to restrict your breath never been a better time than this suffocate on eternal bliss "
She's starting over with a new life...from what she once thought was eternal bliss, became something else.
"In a city that swells with so much hate you seem to rise above and take its place the heart pumps until it dies drain the blood, the heart is wise "
it's talking about draining the blood (which could be symbolic of the swelling hate)...which is getting rid of the hate
"All my friends are murder All my bones are marrows in All these fiends want teenage meat All my friends are murderers "
Everybody that she once thought was her friends are eating her alive (backstabbing i.e. friends and murder, bones and marrow, fiends and teenage meat)
"I never met a pearl quite like you who could shimmer and rot at the same time through there's never been a better time than this To bite the hand of the frost bitten menace "
She's met somebody else that has helped change her life. This person is helping her survive her betrayal.
"I'm alive in uterine a star in the dark a new day has dawned open up and let it flow I'll make it yours so here we go... "
Being independant from her ex-husband,now that she's started a new life (notice the reference to 'uterine' and to 'open up and let it flow')
Just my opinion
Brody says all the lyrics on this album is based around the divorce with Tim, but she used metaphores and such so people could base the songs and let them revolve around their own personal lives.
AWSOME SONG LOVE IT dont really know what it means tho
It's been said, and it's pretty obvious that this song is about Tim. This album reminds me of a Punk version of Alanis Morrisette's early stuff about Dave Coulier. I've always loved bitter ending love songs by chicks. I don't know why. It sounds like she depended too much on him to make him happy. You can see it in her old songs too. I knew the relationship would end when I heard "Young Crazed Peeling" when she sings, "I love a man from California, he's the prettiest thing, we got the same disorder. How you feel! It's okay! It's never gonna change anyway!" Sounded obsessive. I'm thinking Tim felt smothered, and rightfully so. I've had similar relationships and the signs are all there. Tim was naive and thought he could "save" her from her sorrows. Brody was let down (rightfully so) because he built her up and let her down. At leaast that's my take on it.
Great song.
Surely it's about abortion?
The entirity of the album art which comes with 'Coral Fang' suggests abortion.
Punkska is closer to the meaning of this song.... yet no cigar. The album art clearly shows a jesus on a cross when he was stabbed by the spear of destiny and had all his blood drain out as if it were water. I dont know why jesus is a woman in the art though...... eh, its whateever

@punkska I thought coral fang was about tampons and menstruation

its obviously about her and Tim's relationship, you can;t get anymore obvious than the line "all these fiends want teenage meat" because she and Tim met when she was 16 and she moved to LA for him when she was 18 and he was about 12 years older or so from what i recall
