New York Tendaberry Lyrics

New York tendaberry
Blue berry
A rush on rum
Of brush and drum

And the past is a blue note
Inside me, so
I ran away in the morning

New York tendaberry
Blue berry
Rugs and drapes and drugs
And capes
Sweet kids in hunger slums
Firecrackers break
And they cross
And they dust
And they skate
And the night comes

I ran away in the morning

Now I'm back
Unpacked
Sidewalk and pigeon
You look like a city
But you feel like a religion
To me

New York tendabery
True berry
I lost my eyes
In east wind skies
Here where I've cried
Where I've tried
Where God and the tendaberry rise
Where quakers and revolutionaries
Join for life
For precious years
Joined for life
Through silver tears

New York tendaberry

@supernuke Because people come here looking to read others' comments instead of adding their own. You did it too.

@force263 you'd be surprised how many post similar comments and don't add any interpretation to the song ... ironic???

This is probably my favorite song right now -- it is a stroke of genius. If there is such a thing as a pop masterpiece, then this is it. It always makes me cry a little.

I made a couple of corrections to the lyrics. There is a clearly audible "so..." before the first "I ran away in the morning," and also, it is "In east wind skies." The copyright owner has to approve them, though.

How can this have no comments? It's a beautiful love letter to NYC and it is one of the greatest things to ever touch my ears!!

@supernuke what in the lyrics do you find so great??
