The Victim Lyrics

To me, you were just dead weight
A diluted filter blurring the color away from what this used to be or
Or what it could have been

But nothing's changed. I still see you as a toxin. I still see you as the same

I'll let you stand on your own again, while you're playing the victim

To me, you were just the same
Like all of the others, accusing the leader of inflicting all the pain
that you've been feeling, feeling
But I'd wait to find any tears of mine. I tried to let you come undone

But nothing's changed. I still see you as a toxin. I still see you as the same

I'll let you stand on your own again, while you're playing the victim
I'll let you stand on your own, your own

Find a new way in, and take them all way. If I'm the villain, well then take me all away
If I had the blade, I'd cut the strings down from your limbs, and let you get away

I'll let you stand on your own again, while you're playing the victim
I'll let you stand on your own, your own

Wow no comments on this song yet? Haha how exciting! Well, I guess I'll just say the traditional: This song freaking rocks! It stayed in my head days after first hearing it. As usual, Dead Poetic displays their talent in lyrical and melodic aspects of music. Meaning isn't too hidden, I don't think. He's in a toxic, dishonest relationship seems to me. Anyway, love this song!

it is an awesome song.

"i'll let you stand on your own again while your playing the victim."

i'm pretty sure that means when your on your own you are totally vulnerable. you are the victim. when he says, "i'll let" that's future tense so obviolsy it hasn't happened yet.

"If I’m the villain, well then take me all away"

i'm pretty sure that's him saying that he doesn't want to be the villian. he doesn't want or mean to hurt anyone

"If I had the blade, I’d cut the strings down from your limbs, and let you get away"

like if it was up to him he wouldn't hurt the perosn he was talking about. only it wasn't up to him. and he wasn't the one resposible for the other person's pain.

and yeah, it does sound like he's in a bad relationship. and he sees the girl as the toxin, and that's poisoning him so maybe he is the villian, but he doesn't want to be. like bitterness is making him something he's not.

"you're playing the victim", to me, says that the person he's talking to isn't a victim, just acting like one. when referring to the other as a "toxin" i think it means that the person causes the singer to sin. "i'll let you stand on your own again" i think is saying the singer won't succumb to the will of the other when she's "playing the victim", because he doesn't want to be tempted to sin with her, or something like that. That was my take on it
