It's a deep, red wound. Enough to stare.
It's a beautiful rose and everyone's aware
You squeeze it tight enough to bleed.
But suicide is something we'd rather not mention here.
In our beautiful world of saving face.

So Vanity's got this new gun that she wants to try on you.
And as we stand here waiting for the sound..

Get me out of this hell before I'm sucked in.
But you're the beautiful one.
And everyone is painted on, singing scripted songs.
And your seizure-like finger is dead on the trigger.
And then, it's all blown away. With you or us all.
And they had you in their targets.
They're smiling with you in their targets.

So Vanity's got this new gun that she wants to try on you.
And as we stand here waiting for the sound.
So Vanity's got this new gun that she wants to try on you.
And no one says a word from there on out.

But I knew she was beautiful, you're the ones with the flaws.
Oh I knew she was beautiful she should of had this all.
You're killing your heroes, you're killing them one by one.
But I knew she was beautiful, something here's got to die.

So Vanity's got this new gun that she wants to try on you.
And as we stand here waiting for the sound.
So Vanity's got this new gun that she wants to try on you.
And no one says a word from there on out.

It seems like this song is about a girl who dates people only to break up with them. "Vanity's got this new gun that she wants to try on you" means (to me) that she breaks up with them in "new" ways or something to that effect.
"and everyone is painted on, singing scripted songs" is kinda like the guys give her same lines/things all the time. The next line then means that she's so quick to let go of them. I'm probably wrong with this, but some of these lines seem like they might deal with such a situation

I reckon this song is about how peoples vanity, and peoples judgment of others leads to suicide - "So Vanity's got this new gun that she wants to try on you." but im probably wrong. meh, awesome band tho!!!

fall out boy, i think ur pretty close actually i dont believe its about a girl being shallow at all, in fact i think its quite the opposite, its about how the shallowness of others drove her to hate herself. in the bridge it talks about how she was beautiful, but nobody noticed her because it wasnt physical beauty, and they said she was flawed, and drove her to kill herself. he says that its the others who are flawed, because of their insensitivity.

i also think this song is about how suicide is covered up and forgotten, and how nobody tries to find the reason why she killed herself. thats said pretty explicitly "But suicide is something we'd rather not mention here. In our beautiful world of saving face. "

this is one of my favorite DP songs, and i think ive got a pretty good interpretation of it, but if theres more to it id like to know.

well i totally agree with nothingmatters on this one, "and as we stand here waiting for the sound" i think this is saying how when people didn't even care about her feelings as they are waiting for the sound of the gunshot

Agreed with nothingmatters... that looks and externals have become so important in our society that it can make people kill themselves over it...

I think this song is about a girl who kills herself because everyone tries to change her and she can't take it anymore and she feels like she is not loved but the guy singing really knew she was beautiful and never got a chance to tell her how much he loved her and how beautiful she really was because she killed herself. This is my favorite DP songs and thats what i got out of it.

i agree with nothingmatters, the 1st verse seem to start the story, telling us she's already dead, and the 2nd expalins why. people made her feel she was useless and so her responce was a gunshot to her head.

"And then, it's all blown away. With you or us all." meaning she died and everyone was blown away, shocked by the result, and they speak of the incident no more: "And no one says a word from there on out."

all the time he knew she was really beautiful on the inside and everyone else is messed up, killing their heroes, the people with great potential, whatever.

but yeah, awesome song! DEAD POETIC ROCK!!!! and their already working on their 3rd CD!!!!WOOO!!!

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
