Long Time Coming Lyrics
Your patronizing stare can watch me heal.
What I would give for you to take the wheel,
It's been a long time coming.
The strong resemblance to my mothers womb,
Is the reason why I will not leave this room,
It's been a long time coming.
The lack of self-esteam has grown on me,
I'm not as strong I appear to be,
It's been a long time coming.
And my lullaby sounds more like distant screams,
I wake up sleep-deprived after every dream,
It's been a long time coming.
Aaaah…
My flesh makes little sins compared to yours,
I wish my restlessness would open doors,
It's been a long time coming.
What I would give for you to take the wheel,
It's been a long time coming.
Is the reason why I will not leave this room,
It's been a long time coming.
I'm not as strong I appear to be,
It's been a long time coming.
I wake up sleep-deprived after every dream,
It's been a long time coming.
I wish my restlessness would open doors,
It's been a long time coming.

I'm pretty sure its
My flesh makes little sense compared to yours I wish my restlessness would open doors It's just been a long time coming
I relate to every part of this song. I think she's expressing her restlessness and confusion. She's hurting and she doesn't want to work through it. She doesn't feel strong enough. She seems to hate the idea that she's becoming like her mother, and she's losing self-esteem.
And I think the line "my lullaby sounds more like distant screams, I wake up sleep-deprived after every dream" could be a reference to the song (which is a song about her mother).
I'm in the same sort of boat. I've had to deal with some pretty messed up things, as have a lot of people, but it messes with my sleep. I have so many nightmares, which I usually don't remember but I jump or wake up scared, screaming or crying pretty often. I could sleep an entire night and wake up the next day completely exhausted. And I completely agree with the line "I wish my restlessness would open doors" I stay up all night, I think about things and I reach the lowest lows and I just wish that there was a reason for it. I wish the horrible dreams and the thoughts would bring me to some conclusion, but it never does.
This song is unique. It really is.
To me "The strong resemblance to my mothers womb, Is the reason why I will not leave this room" could also be about her not moving on with life or overcoming whatever problems she has, because hiding away from them feels safer (The womb being a 'safe place'). "My flesh makes little sense compared to yours, I wish my restlessness would open doors, It's been a long time coming" Is the dithering over her body image. It can feel very unusual looking at your body knowing you're not ugly or overweight, but yet you feel it so strongly. I've never heard another song like this before, so I have to agree it really is unique, and certainly one of my favorites.
