My favourite song on Doomsday Machine.
For some reason, this reminds me of WWI. But Machtkampf is German for "Power Struggle". So, I'd guess its about a power struggle occurring within - the narrator has a darker side that seems to be taking control of him/her. The narrator seems to be unable to reverse the dark side, and is in a struggle to "End this game" - to make the step to eliminate the alien force.
Anyway, that's just my interpretation.
Sick song. Great changeups. BTW ANGELA GOSSOW IS FUCKIN' HOT AND ALSO HAS ONE OF THE SICKEST VOICES IN METAL. WHO'D OF THOUGHT IT WAS A WOMAN RIPPING THE SHIT OUT OF THE VOCALS, HUH?

Great fucking song!!!! She had her heart broken....went through the power struggle with her own feelings between her lost obviously unrequited love and vengeance for being used. Making the change is getting over her feelings of hurt and rising above it all stronger for the experience. "Flying high on blackened wings, colder than steel instantly real, a new power flows in me"....this is all describes her new attitude....colder, harder more independent and aware.....
