Lovesick For Mina Lyrics

One might see in Mina

My disease

But it is She who has infected me

For all eternity…

As the sun slips the tearaway stars

Into the scented scheme of night

I kissed her mouth like a dark red rose

Set upon a marbled dream of white

So pure of thought like a Vestal statue

Jewelled with a God-lent grace

I was close to coming when She bid adieu

Fuelled by the heartache rent upon her face there

Oh Mina, obscener

Thoughts obsess my days

Oh Mina, obscener

Thoughts possess me

That I must now obey

They say the darkest hour

Is that before the dawn

When nothing in one’s power

Can dissipate the great forlorn

Shadows of fire that haunt me

Like risen whispers of her name

For dawn is a dusk

Wherein needs must

Erupt from the grave, aflame

Written in the dead of night

And riding on the burning wind

Smitten by her read delight

My words alight like leaves of sin

Stepping through a mirror

The princess of the emerald glass

Brought me one sip nearer

Love’s infernal past…

They say Hell hath no furies

Like a woman scorned by life

When the Heavenly Judge and juries

Participate to chain this wife

With forced virtues, Her secret needs

Drew on my foreign blood

On warm wet nights, with storm-wracked bites

I gave her Eden after the flood

Written in the dead of night

And riding on the burning wind

Smitten by her read delight

My words alight like leaves of sin

Verona, Marishka, Aleera

Brides of old and goddesses all

Forgive my wishes to be always near her

Forever or whenever seas recall

This Aphrodite from my embrace

For as Mars (whom lips placate)

I tore these shores with wars and hatred

Before our Paris set his fate

In Helen, one might find mistake

In winning tragedy

For all eternity…

I am still lovesick for Mina

I am still so lovesick her

I think this song is about how Dracula fell in love with Mina Harket in Coppola's version of Dracula. Kick ass song from a great new album

River Wolf is right.

This song is just... brilliant. Especially the last verse, but hell, anything that uses Classical allusions fucking rules.

Probably my favorite CoF song.

River Wolf is completely right.

Dani is personifying himself as the mournful Dracula from the Coppola version. The only referance I could find with the names Verona, Merishka and Aleera is from the film Van Helsing (which I haven't seen, and don't care to) which supports the Dracula theory. Also the haemophiliac undertones to the song makes it clear that it's about vampyrism.

A great song, so deep and powerful.

And following sweetly on in this vein.... Another song whose essence is undoubtedly in the title. Mina Harker is the intended bride of Bram Stoker's infamous Count Dracula. The lyrics in this case are set in a time when Mina is irrevocably lost to him and he is pining for his immortal beloved. This song is a blend of Gothic Romance and balls-to-the-wall thrash.

So this is my interpretation of this song. The speaker evidently is in love with a woman named Mina. Her name can be paralleled to the novel Dracula, by Bram Stocker. One night, both the narrator and Mina became kissing and when the sexual intensity began rising, Mina left and backed away as a result of her being a virgin. She also felt heartbroken, for whatever reason. It is now the goal of the speaker to win Mina back, for his love for her is too intense. On another night, Mina let her inner feelings out and began to have sex with the speaker, erotically biting him continuously. The narrator asks forgiveness from the Brides of Dracula for his love towards Mina is stronger than him love for them. This song end with Mina deceiving the narrator by making him realize that loving her proved to be a fatal mistake. This demonstrates how strong her ability to make anyone love her truly is. My question is whether the speaker is Dracula or Jonathan Harker. Why would Dani allude to the Brides of Dracula if Jonathan didn't have any relationship with them whatsoever. Great song!
