Retrace the steps that led
To a cellophane headdress
And they were found asphyxiated
In a pool of tears that follow

Retrace the steps that led
To a cellophane headdress
And they were found asphyxiated
In a pool of tears that follow

Breathe in
Breathe out
Rape this

And so then came discretion (suffering)
And all the secrets of the silent suffering (so they strayed)
And so they stray possession
Murdering the suffer in
The silencing behind our walls

In the script of blood
They state that this is the purpose
And they were found asphyxiated
By all the words that were painted

Keep your children locked up
There's the one they wanted
Will they betray since departed
If its the way we wanted

And so then came discretion (suffering)
And all the secrets of the silent suffering (so they strayed)
And so they stray possession
Murdering the suffer in
The silencing behind our walls

What did we say
Bring us to earth
Please rape our adolescence
Please rape our adolescence
What did you say
Bring me to earth
Please rape my adolescence
Please rape my adolescence

And so then came discretion (suffering)
And all the secrets of the silent suffering (so they strayed)
And so they stray possession
Murdering the suffer in
The silencing behind our walls

So child close your eyes
And rest your head
It bleeds with slumber
So child close your eyes
And rest your head
It bleeds with slumber
So child close your eyes
And rest your head
It bleeds with slumber
So child close your eyes
And rest your head
It bleeds with slumber

So child close your eyes

This song has a more 'gory' feeling to it than most ASL songs. I'm pretty sure it's not directly speaking of the murders or suicides of this couple, but just refering to it in passing to get across a more hidden meaning. Give me some time, I'll get it. Just need to do a little more research.

By the way, amazing guitar solo.

Only ywo comments? And they're the same! Anyways, this, to me, is talking about the dark sides of life and how we're not in control of it. Best song of theirs.

Im kinda seeing this as referencing the secret lives people have. The chorus is comparing their descretion & suffering.- this could either be their suffering for having to hide, or someone elses when they find out.

OR(and i could be reaching..) talking about under-exposing/sheltering kids when they are young. The descretion, as in using it around these kids, leads to suffering when they find things out later. it comes as a surprise, and tons of these kids stray from how they were raised once they discover the world thier parents have been hiding from them. -this could be in part due to the fact that i lived in utah till i was about 14, and they have extremely strict morman families who completely close their children off from anything they see as bad. i mean television blocking, internet blocking, buying edited movies, no video games, no public school.. its bad. BUT, i knew a lot of these kids that later, high/junior high age that kinda just lost it when that bubble their parents had over them bursts.. its wierd.

So yea thats just my two cents on this song :D

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
