Autocare Lyrics
This Vehicle is breaking down
Someday I'll stop
Can't get these tired wheels to go round
Back in the shop
A month of treatment for the wear and tear
Then fall apart
Cross the state border disappear
Back in the shop again
Admitted, acquitted
Admitted, acquitted
Back on the road neither here nor there
Vessel devoid of ambition
Sputter and crawl
Propelled by faulty transmission
Likely to stall
Admitted, acquitted
Admitted, acquitted
Back on the road as the sun goes down
This Vehicle is breaking down
Someday I'll stop
Propelled by faulty transmission
Back in the shop
Non-stop
No breaks for my mistakes
Admitted, acquitted
Admitted, acquitted
Back on the road as the sun goes down
Someday I'll stop
Can't get these tired wheels to go round
Back in the shop
A month of treatment for the wear and tear
Then fall apart
Cross the state border disappear
Back in the shop again
Admitted, acquitted
Back on the road neither here nor there
Sputter and crawl
Propelled by faulty transmission
Likely to stall
Admitted, acquitted
Back on the road as the sun goes down
Someday I'll stop
Propelled by faulty transmission
Back in the shop
Non-stop
Admitted, acquitted
Admitted, acquitted
Back on the road as the sun goes down

I remember a blog or website posting by Joey Cape before this album came out, and he said that the words for this song were written by Derrick Plourde. They were in a book of poetry that he had been writing in. I can't recall the exact situation, but I think Derrick's mom gave the book to Joey after Derrick passed away, and he felt compelled to somehow use these particular lyrics on the album somehow. The music was composed afterward to go with Derrick's words.
As for the meaning of the song, "This Vehicle" is a metaphor for Derrick's self. It's a poem he wrote about the difficulties in his life that ultimately led to his demise. An appropriate inclusion for the album. At face value, it's not the greatest song. But I have a greater amount of appreciation for it, knowing the background behind it.
exactly where they left off. this band is incredible. their last album was amazing, and this song sounds like it came off the last record.
i think this song represents BA perfectly. it's really aggressive-sounding and it's easy to go along with the song. on BA's myspace site you can read what Joey says about the meaning behind the song..
Yeah it sounds like Lagwagon. Could have been on Resolve with its message. I wish I would have taken it to heart earlier. Now I got a gimp left hand from my addiction, but you're right blakee, worst song ever.
it is about a care joey and Derrick used to hang around with...
I love this fucking song. The metaphor works so well with my drug (mis)use, combined with the fact that my job consists of me driving around in my beater of a car hoping it'll keep running another month without a new problem showing up... It touches on my guilt for wasting my life, my frustration with the issues that get in my way merely because I ignore problems. I do it with my car, I do it with my body... the two most important tools I have. Yeah... great lyrics, great song.
Eh, Ok song. Not that impressive considering I've been waiting for a new B.A song for three years
it may have great meaning, but this is the one song that is a stepback since houston. worst song on the album. i am not a lagwagon fan so i don't want something to sound like lagwagon. the rest of the album is a better view of bad astronaut.
